IMPORTANT: The patch needs to be installed after you subscribe. See below.

CBP includes:
1) A fix for a major damage bug in the Extended Edition which affects ~28,677 damage modifiers. Without the fix, ALL units in RoN:EE deal or receive the wrong amount of damage.
2) Over 70 more bugfixes, mostly from Misc Fixes.
3) Balance tweaks based on data, testing, and consensus, advised by high-skill players. We try to balance across most game modes and skill levels.
4) A custom-made, open-source launcher to patch (and unpatch) the game.[github.com]
5) Full transparency about all changes made, and why.[docs.google.com]

Check here for more information about what CBP is and who's helped to make it.

Damage bugs in unit matchups
~1,000 damage bugs
~1,000 + 28,677 EE-only damage bugs (ALL UNITS AFFECTED)
None known (all patched)
Additional bugfixes
70+, mostly from Misc Fixes
Multiplayer compatibility
T&P only
EE only
CBP only (Steam EE), but quick and easy to switch EE <-> CBP
Replay compatibility
T&P only
EE and CBP
EE and CBP
Balance changes
Last patch in 2004/2005
Worse than 2004/2005 patch; bugs actually break intended balance
Bugs fixed, further tweaks based on data, testing, and consensus
Skill vs RNG
Ruins / rares often decide games
Ruins / rares often decide games
Lower ruins bonus; some rares nerfed/buffed
Basically just DRM
Basic launcher, no useful features
[OPTIONAL] Open source CBP Launcher with extra features
Somewhat documented
Limited documentation; game balance completely changed due to bugs but never mentioned
Full transparency about all changes made and why
Decent, but buggy
Decent, but buggy
CBP Launcher's plugin system can add functionality and bypass buggy modding systems
Poor by modern standards
Still poor
Still sucks (sorry)

Multiplayer compatibility
All players in a CBP game lobby need the patch when playing patched multiplayer.
To play with unpatched players, simply unload CBP before starting RoN.

Windows 7/8.1: You may need to update .NET Framework Runtime.[dotnet.microsoft.com]

1) Subscribe to the mod and check that Steam has finished downloading the files.
2) In RoN, go to Tools & Extras -> Steam Workshop. Select this mod and press Open Directory.
3) Close RoN.
4) Run CBPSetupGUI.exe, and press yes when asked if you want to start CBP Launcher.

Using CBP Launcher, loading and unloading CBP can be done quickly and easily.

I'm moving the conversation to the bugs threads here where it's easier to follow an extended conversation:

I already installed frameworks but the version change interface still cannot appear, in order to return to the unpatched version I must reinstall. Tell me what log information you need, exactly, for now the logs folder has a file that says steam_output 0KB

i have windows 10, i will try that framework thing

What version of Windows are you running? My best guess based on the symptoms you've described is that your version of .NET Framework might be out of date ( https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework ), although this is very uncommon among users of Windows 10+ because it's updated through Windows Update.

If CBP Launcher starts successfully, there should be log files in \Rise of Nations\CBP\logs . If you send that to me on Discord or email ( contact {at} mhloppy.com ) I can take a look at any error messages to try to help.

You are right, I did not replace the launcher but when I followed step 4 that you suggested to be able to switch between the version without and with the patch, the launcher only proceeds to say that the launcher is already working but I cannot see the interface anywhere and then the The game is patched no matter if I unsubscribe from Steam, if I deactivate the mod from within the game or even if I delete the file from the game folders... the only way to remove the mod is to reinstall the game.

The launcher is required to unload the patch. You probably didn't replace the launcher? If you want to completely remove the patch, verifying the integrity of the game files in RoN properties on steam is the last but most effective resort

(you do actually need to press the button though, just running setup again and not doing anything obviously won't work)
MHLoppy  [author] Sep 18 @ 9:02am
@[LAT] Morons King Can you give more info? The launcher should unpatch the game in a second or two as shown in the gif. You don't need to manually delete anything.

Man... i cant unpatch i did step 4 again but it does not work, i already deleted everything and the game continues with patch

@Player One there isn't "official" support for it so it's not a clean way to to do it, but if you edit the relevant files yourself where CBP stores them for loading (not where it loads them to, so not the normal /Data/ folder), then that works until the patch is updated (at which point you lose all the changes, hence no official support). There are a number of previous comments that more or less cover this if you wanted to peruse those.
