Taped TV Shows

Description
If you're tired of starting out games as a couch potato, always near a TV to not miss those juicy XP points, then this may be the mod you're looking for!

Video tapes of your favourite 25 TV show episodes can now be randomly found in households and offices, there's also a rare chance to get them as loot from Zombies. Just slide them into any VHS-compatible TV (sorry Antique Television, you had it coming!) and enjoy the shows "on-demand" from your collection, including any skill XP gain, stress and boredom reduction that come from it. Thanks to the power of lazy developers, you don't even need to rewind tapes!

In new games, you will only gain the XP points for watching a show for the first time. In existing games, you'll gain the XP again, even when you've already seen the show during its regular broadcast time (before the mod was installed). The vanilla game does unfortunately not keep track of what you watched already, so that's a thing you can chose yourself whether to exploit or not.

Compatibility notes: Created and tested on IWBUMS build 41.45. May conflict with other mods overriding ISRadioInteractions.

Holy shit! Thanks dude! I want to get all carpentry shows but I don't want to spend the first days around fucking TVs, especially since I won't use carpentry during that time.

I thought that I had deleted that post because I found the info. Sorry to have wasted your time. Also, in case it matters, the default settings ended up working out perfectly. It only seemed like a lot in the beginning but everything leveled out nicely. Didn't need to adjust any settings after all that.

Thank you for the hard work so that my gaming experience can be better. Much appreciated.

Thank you for this. Sometimes I just don't want to be tethered to the TV for the first 9 days (although sometimes I do). Having this option is nice.

First impression is that the tapes drop a lot. Any way to adjust this on my end via an ini file or an in-game setting?

you should add old school movies like jurassic park and such just clips of the movies that make the player less stressed

Absolutely legendary. You should put that link in the description for your mod.

Oh okay great, I thought something was wrong on my end or something. Is there a list of which survival tapes give what skill xp? The only one I've memorized is that survival tape 5 is about campfires and gives no xp. Perhaps you could list the episode name on the tape?
Tiax  [author] 16 Jun @ 5:17pm
Correct. You can see all shows that air (including the ones before vanilla settings start time) on the PZ wiki.

I chose to add tapes even for the re-runs, since you would also get EXP for watching the re-run in the game, if you customised the starting date.

Actually there are 3 total fishing shows. One of them only appears on the very first day if you change the sandbox start time to 2am or 5am (default is 9am) and watch it before 6am rolls around. Otherwise Fishing shows on the 1st & 3rd days at 6pm. Truthfully the times of 6am/12pm/6pm are more like 6:00am-11:30am/12:00pm-5:30pm/6:00pm-11:30pm. HOWEVER, if a TV located somewhere else that is close to you (like 2 to 3+ screens away) is on & tuned into "Life and Living" it will start the event immediately at 6am/12pm/6pm. So it's not wise to delay watching if you really want the free XP, especially just starting out.
