And thanks to Valve, whether intentional or not, for releasing (most) of the developer commentary tooling they used for the base game.

Caught, in the heart of the Combine Empire,
You find yourself deep in enemy lines. But what is the purpose of this facility? Can you survive, with nothing but your wits to defend yourself?

A map made for the VaultMaps Horror Contest, centred around stealth, with a bit of action near the end.

I'm in agreement with those below me that found the experience frustrating for numerous reasons. It's a real shame as so many elements of this map are fantastically constructed. New feedback video here: https://youtu.be/0F0STVBQvMk

every time i try to write any piece of criticism i just end up copying what TheGrimReaper0011 has already said. its a good idea, but the logic and gameplay isnt up to par.

I like the idea but I hate the execution.
Your heart constantly beating is just annoying and I tried to complete the map 4 times but each time the enemy AI would glitch up in some point not doing what they are supposed to. Also because you can only sneak, it means any time they see you, you have to reload your save so you also have to save a lot. The puzzles are kinda different but honestly, the map was just not fun because of all the saving and loading. The first time around you do not know how the NPC will react because they run on such a pre determined path that every single room you save, try, load, wait, try again, fail, load, wait etc.
Again, interesting but I hate how it plays.

Having the heart beat/controller vibration go on for the entire map was kind of aggravating and distracting, maybe that was the point of it to build suspense? I was waiting the whole time to find a health vial to make it stop :(

Also the part where you need to use a box to climb into the vent was buggy/not working correctly, it seemed impossible at first so I kept trying to find another solution to move forward in the level and ultimately had to watch skummeh's video to figure out how to proceed (and again needed to reference their video for locating the two items in all the filing cabinets, at first glance I assumed no one would possibly make the player look through all of them for items so I assumed they were empty...)

This was a cool experience

It took me several attempts to figure it all out and get thru the entire map, but it was well worth it, especially for that ending. If anyone gets stuck or is not sure what to do, I made a video here of my run: https://youtu.be/DnoqzkbVmdA
