Description






Setup

Each game, 12 selection tiles are randomly drawn, which will determine the unique combination of cards used for this game. The selection tiles are placed in the middle of the table, and a 3 and 4 victory point token are placed on top.

Each player then assembles their player deck by taking 3 copies of the selected ceremonies' cards along with 6 wild Kokopelli cards. These cards are shuffled to make each player's 42 card deck.



Each player’s play area consists of the 4 spaces of their Village board as well as the two closest spaces of their left and right opponents, for a total of 8 spaces.

The following restrictions apply when playing cards (unless modified by a ceremony ability):

A player may only open ceremonies on their own Village board.
A player may only extend ceremonies in their play area
A player may not open a ceremony that has already been started in their play area.



A Turn in Detail

On their turn, the active player always perform two actions. For each action, the player either draws or plays a card, or cancels a ceremony. It is allowed to perform the same action multiple times on a turn.

After performing all their actions, the player must return cards in excess of 5 to their draw pile, placing them face down in the order of their choosing.


Bonus Action: Playing all Cards from Hand

If the player ever has no cards in their hand, they immediately score 1 victory point and draw 3 cards. This should be done immediately and does not count as an action


Playing a Card

Ceremonies proceed through three steps. First, they are started by playing a card to your own village, which grants a special ability. A player may only start a ceremony if an identical ceremony does not already exists in their play area. Since the play areas overlap, each player’s available ceremonies will be different during the game.



Ceremonies are extended by playing a second or third card to them by any player whose play area includes the ceremony. Extending a ceremony may be done for strategic reasons or for benefits from certain special abilities.







Finally, the ceremony is finished by playing the fourth card, which will score points and remove the ceremony from the player’s Village. The player who played the fourth card receives the top victory point marker from the selection tile, or if none is left 1 victory point. In addition, if you finish a neighbor's ceremony, they receive 1 victory point.

Ability cards will greatly affect how ceremonies are extended or finished. Here are some examples.







Finally, a ceremony may be canceled as an action by removing the ceremony cards to the discard pile. This may be done to make room to play other ceremonies from your hand.


Game End

When the last victory point tile has been taken from a selection tile, Kokopelli arrives and is placed on the tile. From now on, completing that ceremony only grants 1 point.




When all Kokopelli markers have been placed out based on the number of players, or one player has depleted their draw pile, the game will end at the end of the round, and the player who has collected the most Victory Points is the winner.
