This mod's core feature is adding a new holding type: the monastery, as well as some flavour around it.

Current content, to be expanded:
  • ordering to take vows send to a monastic court, you can choose which one. women will become guest or wanderers
  • populated with monasteries (random + historical)
  • all faiths with monasticism (either historical or from reformation) can hold or build monasteries
  • some monks are generated to populate courts, they can be elected abbot on succession
  • people ordered to take vows can be elected abbots

Planned or work in progress features:
  • deal with religion incompatibility (converting or destroying the monastery holding)
  • developing specific building chains, reworking the main building chain
  • specific vassal contracts
  • various flavour interactions or events

Slight version update. Some nice content in prepare for... soon! Holding conversion between temples and monasteries when fitting, court position, better monastic succession and some jingles here and there.

Great. I should add another difference to a bishop church is, the monastery does not field troops (so that would be the downside of described benefits) you could demand. But maybe a loan. :)

Later, when the topic of unique prestigeous artifacts is fleshed out in CK3, the monastery could have its special abilities to bring artifacts to your order, like a richly colored prayer book, horarium.

Given the tremendous importance of a monastery in this era, I suggest you add some strong effects to education (for scripture manufacturing, teaching and theologic reasoning) and economy (agriculture, winery, beer brewing) for a province which has a monastery. Also should give benefits to the dynasty which founded it, like giving them a private tomb.

Your family could influence the installation of a new abbot, but should have less control over him than on a bishop of a church, for the monastery is a closed society.

@Starcomet1 The game makes a clear the distinction between ascetism and monasticism in the use it makes of both, I'll stick to it sorry.
