Slip is Live on the Steam Store!
Slip launching April 28th!
Release date: March 2014
Slip is a fast paced side scrolling platformer that utilizes a two color swap mechanic to allow the player to evade danger. It has an immense focus on timing and features devilishly tricky level design. Utilizing your two colors, absorb damage from incoming projectiles of the same color or be destroyed immediately by the opposite color. Additionally, Slip features colored Geometry that you only interact with when you share its color. This is perfect when you need a place to stand, but can result in instant death if you land on a set of spikes sharing your color. In addition to color based obstacles, Slip will also feature numerous Color activated props. Sharing the color of a launch-ring will shoot you in the direction it faces. Match the color of a gravity well to get sucked in and color swap again to have it launch you in which ever direction you are spinning. Lastly, utilize the phase shift platforms to move vertically in the direction of your color.

Game Progression:
Slip is split up into 12 levels with an overworld connecting them. The player must progress through the game linearly with each level being unlocked as you play. Each level features a host of obstacles that result in instant death. However, since the game can be quite difficult, there are frequent checkpoints laid throughout each level. You do NOT have a limited number of lives. You can press on until your thumbs are weary.

At the end of every level there is a mini-boss or boss encounter. During these sequences the game switches to an autorun mode where the player can adjust their position on screen by moving left or right. During these sequences, positioning can mean the difference between life and death.

Challenge Levels:
In addition to the core game levels, there are also 20 challenge levels that really put the players platforming skill to the test (not that the main levels don't already do that). These levels are short and set in Slip Space where Steve cannot follow.

Controller Support - There is full controller support for Xbox type gamepads. It not only works, it's highly recommended. This IS a platformer after all.

Levels - Slip features 12 levels spread over 3 uniquely arted zones (the first two zones are shown in the video). These levels as quiet long and have numerous Check Points spread throughout them. Dieing will result in respawning at the latest checkpoint.

Enemies - Slip features a host of deadly obstacles and enemies, a mini-boss encounter for the end of each level, as well as 3 massive bosses to cap off the end of each Zone.

Steve - Steve is your self-proclaimed nemesis. He's the reason for this whole mess, so naturally, the game will end with his failure. He's the worst. Out run him at all costs, as swapping between Red and Blue does jack all against his purple beam.

Projectiles: Tons of unrelenting Projectiles and Beams to test your color swapping abilities against.

Powercubes: Powercubes are little colored cubes spread throughout the world. Matching their color will allow you to collect them. Collecting 100 will result in an Overshield being readied. The next time you collide with an energy type of the wrong color, the shield deploys for 3 seconds, absorbing all energy and saving your life.

Hypercubes: Hypercubes are rare and often hidden. Colliding with them will send you to Slip space, a collapsing dimension that only last for 18 seconds. This is a good place to collect Powercubes and gain points as death there will merely exit you from Slip space. Remember, Death in Slip Space is NOT death in real life.

Scoring / Trophies - In Slip there is a focus on perfect play. Each checkpoint reached without dying increases your score multiplier. Every bit of energy absorbed also earns you points. At the end of each level, the player earns trophies based on their play that add to their score. The requirements for trophies are assorted but some examples are, "Not Dying", "Collecting every Powercube", and "Finding all the Hypercubes in a level". Information on how to earn each trophy can be found in-game.

Accessory Unlocks - To add a bit of silly to a light hearted game, the player can also unlock clothing accessories to wear while playing. These accessories are unlocked by feats of skill while playing. The requirements can range from beating the first level to scoring over 400k points in one level.

3 Difficulty Levels - Even though Slip is immensely difficult (in a fair sort of way) players will find that their skill level increases dramatically as they master the art of color swapping. As such, there are 3 levels of play. Normal - 100% gamespeed. Hard - 110% gamespeed. And Sassy - 120% gamespeed. These percentages might not sound intimidating, but they are really quite dramatic in the context of Slip.

The Story:
You play as the devilishly cubie protagonist. You've always been pretty awesome with your ability to swap between 2 colors. You're a pretty sweet deal. Your nemesis Steve, on the other hand, is gross and smooth, nasty and organic. His color is that of a sickly peach. Why doesn't he just swap colors like you? Because he can't. Because he's Steve. In his early years Steve idolized you. He wanted to be you. After a failed attempt to become your sidekick (you don't have sidekicks since you're not a superhero) Steve began to seclude himself from the world. His envy of you grew and turned to hatred and resentment. He worked tirelessly in his lab creating all forms of horrible beings. His greatest triumph however has just been unleashed upon you. You couldn't have foreseen in your wildest dreams that Steve's malice would lead to such a monstrosity as the color purple. And now, it is upon you.

MUSIC: The music for the game is being created by Logan Gabriel, an awesome musician and all around good guy, check out more of his work here:

*Note: Perhaps you've seen this before. This is a relaunch of "Slip" as it was orginally posted a year ago in its prototype phase. Now it's entering beta and will be completed within the month. As such, I'm starting fresh with a more accurate Greenlight now that the game is almost done. If you "Thumbs Downed" before, perhaps you'll reconsider, perhaps not. And if you "Thumbs Uped" before, I sure hope you will again =)
