Introduction
Hello! And welcome to my SCUM guide.

In this guide I will be going over how to get the absolute MOST out of your Single-player experience while playing SCUM.

This includes Zombie spawn rate, how many zombies, loot drops, loot percentage, Sentry (mech) settings, etc... All can easily be configured. By the end of this guide you'll know how!

Warning Acknowledgement... You know the thing.
I should start off by stating that in the very unlikely event that your computer becomes damaged, or you experience any sort of issues after doing this that it is entirely your own fault and I am NOT liable for anything of the sort, you doing this acknowledge that.
Now then, let's get started...

The First half.
First and foremost you'll need to do a bit of file browsing, and some of the files you're going to be looking for are "invisible" How do we fix that you ask? Very easily. Just follow these next steps... If you've done this before just skip to step 8.

1) Open up file explorer on you're desktop

2) Navigate to "View" in the upper left corner of the file explorer window

3) Once in the "View" tab go over to "Options" at the far right hand side and click it

4) Once in the "Options" window click the "View" tab

5) Once in the view tab, find "Hidden files and folders" in your "Advanced settings:"

6) Select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"

7) And you're done with the first half, ezpz right?
Second bit...
Now that we've hacked into the mainframe, these next few steps will lead you to single-player godliness. Now is also a good time to pour yourself some Scotch, or Whiskey... Or a Brandie... Hell whatever you drink.

8) With File explorer open navigate to your (C:) drive

9) With your (C:) drive open, click on "Users"

10) Click on YOUR username

11) Now navigate to "AppData" (if you did steps 1 - 7 correctly, you'll see it *It'll be transparent looking*)

12) Click "Local"

13) Now find your "SCUM" Folder

14) Click "Saved"

15) Click "Config"

16) Click "WindowsNoEditor"

17) Now you'll want to right-click "ServerSettings.ini" Once right-clicked open it with notepad (Be aware it IS recommended to open it with a text editor, in my case I use ATOM. Honestly though Notepad should do the exact same thing.)
The actual settings file
18) Once you're in the file it should look like this:

[SCUM]

Or somewhere along those lines, if not, and you are MISSING some of these lines don't worry, continue reading...
Some more info on settings
19.) The lines above are ALL the settings for your Single-player experience, and all can be tweaked to your liking. If you are MISSING some of these lines, your .ini may not be updated.

20.) If your .ini isn't updated simply delete the "ServerSettings.ini" file and startup your SCUM game, upon startup a new .ini file will be generated.

And that's it! I will go through some of these settings so you're not completely lost.

If you want more zombies don't worry about adjusting the "MaxAllowedZombiesInWorld=64" instead I recommend adjusting these three:

ExteriorPawnAmountModifier=1.0
InteriorPawnAmountModifier=1.0
WildPawnAmountModifier=1.0

These three are spawn modifiers for zombies.
Exterior = outside
Interior = inside
Wild = Wilderness

Be careful adjusting these values too high as you will get ganked once zombies begin to spawn again. I probably wouldn't go as high as 5.0...

For Loot tweak these:

[SCUM.ItemSpawning]
SpawnerProbabilityMultiplier=3
ExamineSpawnerProbabilityMultiplier=3
ExamineSpawnerExpirationTimeMultiplier=1
SpawnerGroupsExpirationTimeInMinutesMultiplier=1

MaxAllowedZombiesInWorld=64 - Maximum possible number of all puppets in the game

MaxAllowedWildPawnsInWorld=64 - Puppets spawning in the wilderness, away from POI's, etc.

MaxAllowedExteriorPawnsInWorld=64 - Puppets that spawn around POI's, in city streets,
in / outside of bunkers.

MaxAllowedInteriorPawnsInWorld=64 - Puppets that spawn inside of buildings.

These lines will determine the maximum amount of puppets in the game at any time but they will not increase the amount spawned in a single area. So it's not that much useful for SP.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ExteriorPawnAmountModifier=1.0

InteriorPawnAmountModifier=1.0

WildPawnAmountModifier=1.0

Increasing these values will affect how much puppets can spawn in an area. So if for instance, you encounter 5 puppets in front of a bunker, increasing the ExteriorPawn value to 2.0 will net you 10 puppets instead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ExteriorPawnSpawningCheckTimeInSeconds=0.0

Sets the how often in seconds can a new puppet be spawned in the exterior around the player if available

InteriorPawnSpawningCheckTimeInSeconds=0.0

Sets the how often in seconds can a new puppet be spawned in the interior around the player if available

WildPawnSpawningCheckTimeInSeconds=600.0

Sets the how often in seconds can a new puppet be spawned in the wilderness around the player if available

ExteriorPawnSpawningProbability=30.0

Determines the probability to spawn exterior puppet in percentages

InteriorPawnSpawningProbability=10.0

Determines the probability to spawn interior puppet in percentages

I have nothing to add to this paragraph, since the recent showcase explained it pretty good. These lines should be pretty obvious now :)

In any case, play around with the values a bit and find that which fits you best."
Finishing up
That's basically it to this guide, remember you CAN add more then just the settings in the .ini file there are more tweaks you can easily make.

Keep in mind I also DIDN'T show EVERY value that can be tweaked, MUCH more is easily configurable in a moments time, just adjust values and play from there.

For example I remove the map & crosshairs in SP just because I love the challenge, which these can be done by adding these under the [SCUM] lines with:

AllowMapScreen=0
AllowCrosshair=0

These setting at "0" value disable these features.

And remember if you edit out of hand and the game keeps crashing, delete the .ini file and start fresh on a newly generated .ini file. I've had to do it before because I tweaked too many settings which was resulting in immediate crashing.

  • Remember delete .ini file,
  • Restart game,
  • load into save file if you can (it may crash again),
  • close game again,
  • restart game,
  • New file should be generated and available for use.

Cheers all.

I hope this guide helps some of you who are like me and want more out of their Single-player SCUM experience gain what they're looking for.

If you have any questions, feel free to post HERE or on my profile I will assist if I can.

Also, if you want more there's loads of this type of stuff posted on reddit and other forums by other die-hard SCUM lovers, be sure to check out some of that stuff too.

Happy puppet hunting!

@SIDIOUS did you make sure to save the change cause that is the change you need to make to remove sentries work just fine for me.

Hi, can anyone tell me how I can remove the Sentries? MaxAllowedSentriesInWorld=0 does not work.

@2005Guyver02:
[SCUM.GameResourceType.Water]

[SCUM.GameResourceType.Gasoline]

These multipliers (just looking over them) are most likely your "draining" of each, fuel / water etc... You'd play with these values to change consumption or replenishment when using them I'd guess.

@all hopefully this sheds more light on the settings in this file, if I were you guys I'd just play around with them and find out what they do, no matter how much I update this guide it'll be dated over and over again with their frequented patching.

Cheers!

This Guide is VERY old, Steam un-subbed me from the comment thread a long time ago for whatever reason, possibly from when I was having issues with A3, but that's another story...

Most these settings should still work, but I'm sure there are more settings types and they're possibly even renamed, since time of posting was in 2020...

I would suggest using this guide more so as a template to change your SP world settings or atleast find the .ini file other than that my guide may even be obsolete.

I followed all the steps you said. The serversettings are not as you shared, the contents are still different and I don't have 'MaxAllowedSentriesInWorld=-1 '. I can't increase the number of zombies. Also, the loots are still the same. I'll be happy if you can help me.

Thank you, I still new to this, and I found supplies is little too scarce. So is this your recommended setting for more supplies?

SpawnerProbabilityMultiplier=3
ExamineSpawnerProbabilityMultiplier=3

or should I go higher?

Can you clarify, for someone new to the game, does this make it harder by adding realism? Or does it make it easier since nobody else is in your game?
