Thanks for the great guides. Everybody has their favorite situational items but one nitpick: phoenix is vulnerable to silences and the guide as it's written has no items that can purge a silence. At least one of eul's, lotus orb, guardian greaves or bkb should appear as a situational or extension item. I would also (situationally) consider force staff; even though it doesn't purge the silence it lets phoenix reposition until it wears off, provides stats and regen phoenix needs and synergizes well with mobility and sunray.

Firstoff, thanks so much for this guide, it along with all of ur other guides have been invaluable in helping me learn how to best play dota's heroes!

That being said, I have two small bits of feedback for this build:

1) Sunray should really be maxed before icarus dive. Dive should still be leveled at 1 for the value point, but really, sunray's such an incredible spell, especially in the mid-game before bkbs are more common-placed, that having it maxed 3 levels earlier is just so much better than having an extra 240 magical damage on ur dive.

2) Put heart into extensions/luxury. I mean, it's not an item you're gonna get all that often, given the gold cost, but I feel like it's up there with octarine on things that phoenix would want in a dream situation. The extra health does wonders for phoenix's survivability and the regen pretty much negates the health cost of his abilities (most notably sun ray).

Also don't buy a midas, it's hard enough for pheonix to get last hits because of his damage and a midas by 11 min is actually kinda bad tbh no offense. Ok onto the support items pheonix can build and still be effective, don't buy a mek it takes 225 mana which is most of phoenix's mana pool plus the tranqs should be enough healing for him through most of the game! Also leveling pheonix's skills is always hard to decide but keeping sunray for last is a horrible idea given it's ability to chase enemies and save teammates from afar! Once you get tranq boots you shouldn't have any problem with using Sunray so please don't leave it for last, it should get at least 1 level early on mabye level 3 depending on who your lane partner is! I know there is alot of criticism in this post but I tend to do that when talking about my favorite hero :P if you have any questions just look at my guide and build for phoenix :)

Ok firstly, from the support point of view and having played over 100 matches with phoenix, you should be buying the courier bc phoenix is a great support hero if played correctly. Instead of buying a salve get a mango and don't worry about the ring of protection you can get that in lane if needed. What you should start off with is the courier, an observer ward, mango and 2 gg branches (if you have another support and he is willing to buy the wards you should trade your iron branches for a circlet to build into a null talisman then a veil if appropriate to increase damage output).

Well, its a nice and short guide - with some serious notes about ur item choices and the skills - gj :D

ofc there are more valuable items for phoenix like skadi, HoT, that vanguard upgrade I cant remember ^^

But what do u think about euls ? I mean since phoenix is such a slow hero (ye his abilities do nullifie it when it comes to chasing) and u ur opponent may not get out of the nova stun, and last but not least ur mana is always fine.

i prefer that shiva's guard is a core instead of an extensions, its really good for initiation's and provides good armor

I've used Urn a bunch and I like it, since you tend to be low health after fights. I wouldn't go for a Medallion, because you should be building health and strength items, not armor (maybe Shiva's depending). I also don't mind building a Vanguard, but I think that's just me. I would also think about treads instead of tranquil, but in that case, I think an Urn is really helpful to keep your health up.

Isn't Urn a good item to get on Phoenix? Phoenix is pretty good at setting up kills so he'll get a good amount of charges which he can use to heal himself, deal more dot damage to enemies, and/or heal allies. Also the Mana regen is helpful.
If not Urn then would a Medallion of Courage be a good item to get? As Phoenix you build so many armor items that losing the armor from Medallion wont matter too much and once again the mana regen is helpful.
