Preparing for game
You don't have to build your base in haste. Battle won't start unless you build any productive building. For instance: refineries (but not upgrades for them), factories. You have unlimited time to install your defence and build turrets, cannons, any upgrade. Take your time. Well built defence can save you some bucks. After you've placed your turrets, you can build upgrades for refineries and only now refineries themselves. Thus you'll get some time bonus.
Put your buildings out of the road, titans usually follow roads. Some refineries can live to the end even if they are next to the titans path just don't put them on roads.
Turrets can take only 4 upgrades of each kind, don't put any additional upgrades near them, it'll be waste of money. So is for refineries too. Also only 4 refineries can harvest from one crystall field.
Scarecrow
Very convenient building. Placing them 4 cells one from another can lead titans where you want them to go. Better working on broken ground. Scarecrows don't work on flying, invisible and Bosses titans. Be aware, you cannot shut every pass or else titans will ignore scarecrows, because they should have at least one pass to your base. You can arrange one or two passes with ambushes equiped with max tier turrets.
Capacitor
The (In)convenient tool for killing your enemies manually. Very powerful if you upgraded them well. The only weapon to kill invisible titans! Better to place several of them in one place, 'cause they're not powerfull enough to beat back whole assault wave. Also range upgrades are preferable. With them you can shoot down flying titans. Place them some cells above the flying path of the titans to prevent bombing your capacitors by dead bodies and far from your base. It's quite easy because the flying titans path is usually far from other titans paths so your capacitors will be untouched. But because they are manual only turrets they are inconvenient when you are taking some bonuses or put back some canons and miss first titans of the invisible wave.
Mines
Don't put your mines in advance in the building-your-base period. Use them as an emergency to kill individuals, who ran through your defence line, or put them in the crowd so you'll get max benefit from one mine. Just put it under titan's feet and he'll be killed. It's manual way to correct your defence flaws. Use them one at a time. If you haven't used mines in last mission they'll be saved for the next plus mines you produce. So before the Boss level you can collect mines to the max amount and make your battle easier.
Mines damage your buildings!
Rockets
Don't use rockets.

Why?

Because they more likely will crash your own base than bring you victory. There are some specific places where they can be useful. But lasers are better. Use lasers.
Lasers
They can shoot from one end of map to another, although, they can aim only on "short" distance which is bigger than any blaster has. If there is some long straight path where titans come (like one pass in the rocks) you should place laser on the other end of that line. So even if a laser can't see any of enemies on the other end of the line it'll shoot near targets thus shoot in that direction and kill everything on the line! Very convenient. Reloaders are preferable upgrades, because laser reloads too long. Maybe some scanners.
Last defence
Don't forget, you can build anything right on titans thus killing them. Eliminate them in such way and you'll get the achievement.
Also titans hurt themselves when they attack your buildings. Here goes some elaborate strategy with placing cheap buildings in front of a stomping army. At least you can get the achievement 'Skin Of Your Teeth' with that tactics.
Money
At the end of a mission you'll get your money back. Every survived building will be converted into money minus 60% (as if you sell them). Don't lose your expensive buildings. Also something you get for your achievements\medals like none of your buildings have a scratch. The more crystalls you gather the bigger reward is, you get only 10% out of crystalls you didn't mine (it's absurd though, they're on our territory now).
