Introduction
This is the "official" VR support by Techland that is hidden in the game files.

This is not for the feint of heart or people that get motion sick very easily!

Above is a great video gameplay and tutorial on how to run Dying Light in VR. (not made by me of course) incase the guide is too confusing. The only issue is that the video is very outdated, while this guide is not. EDIT: I removed the video due to it's inability to play, if you really want to see it, just search "sweviver dying light" and it should be the first result that you see.
Step 1:
You are going to want to open your documents folder and go to Dying Light\out\settings. And you will see two files, audio.scr and video.scr
Step 2:
Now you want to make a text document inside the folder.

Right click anywhere, hover over "new", and select "text document". Your folder should now look like this:
Step 3:
Open the text document and drag and drop the video.scr file into it, your text document should look something like this:
Now scroll down to the bottom half of the text and enter "OculusEnabled()" without the quotes. It does not matter where you put this.
Be sure to save the document.

If you are an Oculus user, this is all you have to do! enjoy dying light in VR! however if you are a HTC Vive user, you will need to do an extra step.
HTC Vive
For HTC Vive users, you will still need to do the first 3 steps!

In order to make Dying Light support the HTC Vive we are going to need to download revive, it is a program that allows you to play Oculus exclusive titles in your HTC Vive: https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive/releases
download the latest version and run the installer.

Make sure that your VR headset is green and ready, then open your "show hidden icons" button (also known as the tray icon) in the lower right and right click on the revive symbol, then select "inject" and it will open your file explorer.

Navigate to your Dying Light exe, click it, and press open.

The game should now be able to run in your headset! but if it doesn't, launch the game through the root directory.

If the game still doesn't launch try running the game in administrator mode.

If the game still fails to launch, install version 1.9.0 of revive and use the "patch" feature instead of injecting.

Enjoy Dying Light in VR!

Extra gameplay information
Just some tips and information for you all:

I highly recommend seated play as this is not a comfortable experience at all, and make sure to reset your seated position.

Dying Light VR can be played with other people, regardless if they are in VR or just on regular desktop, they cannot see you lean however.

Turn antialiasing off in settings as this makes weird texture bugs and it doesn't even improve the image at all.

Turn off Nvidia PCSS because shadows will look different in each eye and will cause you eye strain.

If you cannot handle the intensity or you are getting motion sick, either take a break or place your headset on your desk, reset the seated position, and play through your monitor.

If you are having spectators watching you, drag your game window just a little bit and it will open up to a wider, two eyed view, making it easier to see. It will now look like this:

As the game sees VR as just a "visual" change, you cannot get banned for playing in VR in multiplayer.

VR will also work on Oculus DK2, and Oculus Quest 1, 2, & 3 via a link cable, or other viable method.

This game can be played with keyboard and mouse or a controller, it does not support wand controllers.

I also agree with removing the sun lens flare.

Works with Valve Index via Revive. I recommend using mods for removing lens flares and there is also a mod that changes the UI so that it is a bit easier to read the map and other menus.
