Description
Now with left handed support!!

The classic sidearm, now in VR. This is the first model replacement for Alyx's pistol, ported from Black Mesa with some minor adjustments to better fit VR and the HL:A pistol rig.

Credit to the Crowbar Collective for models/textures.

Features:
  • Fully rigged
  • Glowing sights for targeting in the dark
  • Custom sounds
  • Now compatible with upgrades (burstfire has no cosmetic effect)

Issues:
  • Magazines on corpses may not be targetable with the grabbity gloves.
  • Picking it up as a physical object with your non-dominant hand is a bit strange; my SFM-based method for extracting animations doesn't work for single-frame animations, one of which includes that hand pose. Valve, please fix "Import Sequence." Or give us a model decompiler, pretty please?

If you want an unbalanced 17-round magazine, do the following:
  • Navigate to steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyx\game\hlvr\cfg.
  • Open skill_hlvr.cfg in a text editor.
  • Add a new line with the these contents:
    vr_energygun_ammo_per_clip "17"

Hey, there's a bug with this gun (I'm assuming only on left handed) Where when I load a magazine into the gun it doesn't take the mag model but plays the loading noise. After that, I can't drop the magazine or press the quick-release for the hammer but I can use my hand to load the first round. For some reason I can use that mag, but once it's empty, I can't take the mag out. Please fix, I can't shoot right-handed.

I've investigated it with no results. Just put out a question on my last lead. Depending on what people tell me, there may not be a fix.

update regarding the gravity gloves not grabbing magazines from bodies?

There are some issues with this mod, for example you can't use the GGs to take mags from bodys living or dead. But I've got to say out of all the pistol mods this has to be my favorite.

Just want to let you know that there's still a bug with the left-handed mode. I'm able to fire off 1 magazine, but pressing the magazine eject button, it will not do anything. In fact, looking at the bottom of the grip, there's no magazine visible there to begin with. Trying to insert one doesn't do anything, it's just blocked from being inserted as if there's already one in there, but pressing the eject button just doesn't do anything.

I tried not to take too many liberties. The exception was the glow sights, which I added because HLA is pretty dim and VR resolutions are shit this generation, making aiming without them very difficult.
Ammo count would end up looking too sci-fi for a Glock. Next best thing is counting your shots, which isn't a bad habit to build in case of The War.
