Fix for map 31 of TNT Evilution

Did you know? The Yellow key in Map 31 of TNT Evilution is missing. Don't worry it's easy to fix.

Where is that damn yellow key?!
Actually, there is a yellow key in MAP 31 of TNT but, it's tagged multiplayer only so if you don't play in multiplayer, there is no way to get the yellow key.
You can finish the level without that key but you can't get everything and kill everything without that key and without cheating.

So, if you want to do this level properly, I have a fix for you.
How to fix Map 31
It's really simple, just follow this:

  • First, go to /idgames[www.doomworld.com] and download "tnt31fix.zip"
  • Once you have downloaded and unziped this file, you should have "tnt31.wad" . Copy this file, go to ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Final Doom\base and paste "tnt31.wad" .

You have the fix on the right folder but it doesn't work yet because when you launch the game, it only launch "tnt.wad" . You must modify some files:


1) If you use the classic controls:
If you use the classic controls, you must modify "tnt.conf" . open this file with notepad, go to the bottom and add tnt31.wad after tnt.wad .


2) If you use the modified controls:
This time, you must modify "tntm.conf" . open it with notepad, go to the bottom and add tnt31.wad between tnt.wad and -config .

Now you are ready to go! Don't worry you can edit both of the files it doesn't matter.
If the fix work properly, you should find the yellow key here:

tnt31fix.wad also includes rebuilt nodes and other fixes like the Shotgunners at the end not spawning in like they should. So there is still kind of a reason to use tnt31fix.wad, though most probably won't care unless they use classic ports like Chocolate Doom.

Yeah the newest version of GZDoom fix some vanilla bugs (including the yellow key).

I decided to just use the GZDoom source port which has the yellow key.

if you don't want to keep your TNT.wad unmodified, it's a better solution indeed.

From a personal standpoint, this error's a bit easier to fix if you load the map in Doom Builder 2 / GZDoom Builder and un-check the yellow key's "multiplayer only" flag.

I always take the germany mirror because it's the closest to where I live but I never tried the others so I don't know if there is bad mirrors.

You download the zip from the download mirrors list on the right.

I went to /idgames. Now how do I download the .zip file? I could only find a .exe file.

The file you download is a .zip, not a .exe and downloads from /idgames are safe.
