Simple Garry's Mod Player Model Face Edit

Very quick method of altering a player model's appearance. Does not involve Blender Texture painting.

Intro and software needed

Very quick guide, with a horrifying John Cena model at the end.

You will need:
Crowbar
https://www.getpaint.net/
Paint.net vtf plugin [www.softpedia.com]

Acquire model

Subscribe to the model you wish to alter.

Unpack with Crowbar

Open Crowbar and click the 'Unpack' tab.

Then navigate to the addon. The addon is either in:
(your Steam folder)\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons
or
(your Steam folder)\steamapps\workshop\content\4000

Make a folder for the unpacked contents.

Edit Image with Paint.net

With the VTF plugin installed, open Paint.net and open the texture file. Make whatever alterations you like then save.

There is supposed to be a gif here but it's not working. You open the texture file from (unpacked)\materials\models\fzone96\johncena\body.vtf

Publish to workshop

Using Crowbar, upload to workshop. Make sure to subscribe to your addon. Check in Gmod.

although I have tried 7 different playermodels and NONE of them worked except for one,
that being John Cena. that really bummed me out as I was excited to get them working lol
