-Added "Play-surface" helps with card placement for Combat engagement and table organization.
Until then, if an event card causes damage that would destroy a room, just reduce the rooms' hull strength to 1 and ignore the room destruction.
-Yes, you have to play wit all four characters. Look like most your questions can be solved by taking a look at the General FAQ card on the top right of the table. This will explain the different ways you can approach the objectives.
I'll message you with more details as i'm limited in the comments to a character cap.
Hope this helps, Please feel free to reach out to me and I'll happily run you through a guided playthrough.

the tts rules are the most recent, one event is drawn per round. I'll double check to make sure all the art and rule book are in sync.
There are only 7 rounds and it's game over, correct?
You need more than 7 radio beacons to advance to win the game. When you start play, the ship, based on the pilots skill is only 1 or 2 spaces. It takes half the game to get more, if the pilot only trains skill. If you're increasing skill you can't do anything else, correct?
You only get a few credits each round and it costs most or all of them to open new rooms.
The rules still show 1 event card drawn per round. I'm reading the TTS rules.
Significant changes are as follows.
New Advance dice game mechanic
Updated Damage cards. They know longer have stress icons on them.
More aggressive Vord ships. They will hit more often and move towards the EOS more often. However, they still move slowly at a max distance of 2 and rarely 3.
The crew may not use a space station’s unique abilities in two subsequent rounds. However, they may fly to another space station and use its unique abilities in the next round.
The event card phase has been moved into the Extinction Phase.
Event cards are no longer drawn each game round.
Shorter basic skill tracks.
New character skills to unlock.
The Deep space scanner now rewards Power Cubes.
