The Symphony of Erich Zann - [Arkham Horror LCG Scenario]

Updated to final version, with automatic clue spawning [pending].

"But despite all I have done it remains an humiliating fact that I cannot find the house, the street, or even the locality, where, during the last months of my impoverished life as a student of metaphysics at the university, I heard the music of Erich Zann."

-H.P.Lovecraft, The Music of Erich Zann

Investigators must discover The Symphony of Erich Zann and uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of the titular violist. When your contact at the Auseil Theatre is nowhere to be found and strange music plays from deep within, will you be able to save the orchestra? Or will you also succumb to the music? This scenario can be played as a standalone scenario, or inserted into a campaign as a side-story.

The Symphony of Erich Zann is a custom scenario for Arkham Horror LCG and can be played by 1-4 players.

How to play:
  • In real life:

    1. You can download print-and-play files and individual card images at Arkham Central. []
  • On Tabletop Simulator:

This mod requires Arkham Horror LCG - Super Complete Edition. (Currently removed from the workshop)

    1. Open up this mod in Tabletop Simulator.
    2. Right click the memory bag -> Save Object.
    3. Start a session of Arkham Horror LCG - Super Complete Edition.
    4. Spawn the saved memory bag (Objects -> Saved Objects)
    5. Click on the Place button of the memory bag
    6. The Scenario Guide can be found in the same bag. Follow the Scenario Guide for set up instructions. (locations and set aside cards will be already set up by the memory bag)
    7. Enjoy!

Special thanks for MrStump's Memory Bag 2.0 for making things everything easier for set up.

Please let me know if you have any comment / feedback / criticisms about the scenario. I hope you enjoy the scenario as much as I had fun making it. Thank you very much!

A friend and I played it (4 total investigators, no performers) about 1/3 into the Alice in Wonderland campaign and we quite enjoyed it. The music treacheries are definitely not all created equal - Dies Irae was irrelevant mostly while Brass was brutal. The boons we got are cool. We ended up giving one to each investigator. The violin isn't super useful but the drumsticks are borderline broken (Minh has them). The art on Young Nightingale is gorgeous. Endless Echo was frustrating but not too bad; Hissing Noise was the worst. The Dancing Rats all being named the same but having different stats/abilities was slightly confusing, but the overall low number of enemies in the scenario made it okay. However, the high number of Music treacheries made progressing Act 2...difficult. We got lucky, but I could see that be very annoying. Overall I think there aren't enough Musician. Agenda 2b cares about them as does the Broken Tablet and the Elder Thing, but I don't think it ever triggered.

I played the game four player and I enjoyed it but my group didn't. I would say the weakness for Performers specifically detracted from the experience.

If everyone got the weakness, but performers could get rid of it easier or gained some other card or ability for the scenario then it would be rated higher by my group and I.

I enjoyed the theme, but coming in with Marie, Lola, and Patrice we felt that we wasted our time playing standalone with those investigators dealing with Stuck in Your Head.
