Little Known Windows 10 Tweak
By =Axton=
The easiest way to see immediate speed improvement on any PC running Windows 10. No downloads, or file hacking. Simply turn off auto updates to pre-installed Windows Store apps that hardly anyone uses! And if you do use one just manually update it via the store.

As of April 2021 I'm including links to tweaks I like to do to fresh OS installs so we can all benefit.

Disable MS Store auto updates
See the image for detail but this is all you do: (2022 UPDATE BELOW)

There's two places to turn off updates:

1. Navigate to your Main Settings window>Update & Security>Advanced options, and turn off "Recieve updates for other MS products". NOTE: I'VE seen this turn itself back on from time to time.

2. Load the Windows Store app FROM THE START MENU, click the 3 dots in the top right corner>Settings>turn off "Update apps automatically". NOTE: you must have internet access for this to work.

That's it!

2022: I've had the store open from within Xbox Gamepass games for DLC purchases and when that happened it activated auto updates again. To disable this we're going to use Group Policy editor built in to Windows. Here's how.
Preventing auto driver updates
Toms Hardware link[www.tomshardware.com]
This is the site describing what to do. Here it is in point form.
"To stop Windows from doing automatic driver updates, navigate to Control Panel > System & Security > System > (right side of window: Advanced System Settings) > Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings. Then choose "No (your device might not work as expected)."

Note that as of April 17 2021 I've seen this not affect nvidia video drivers, my fresh OS installed it's own driver as soon as I plugged my network cable in (it was a version I was ok with anyway so I left it). You could get around this by having one downloaded already and install it before plugging in ethernet.

But does this affect Windows database updates which improve your computer's antimalware software?
