A series of unfortunate events.
We have been really busy!!
Release date: Late 2014 - Early 2015
Exo Miner is a procedurally generated, action based mining, exploration, construction and defence game.
Travel to unexplored sectors of space, claim new sectors for mining, set up defences, buy new ships and drones then customise them to fit your play style. Define patrol routes for protection or attack claimed sectors. Defend your own sectors from rival companies and leave your mark by building the biggest space mining corporation in the galaxy. Can you build a corporation to rival the mighty Europa Mining Company?

We’re currently busily developing Exo Miner and much of the content is not yet final. The graphics shown here are not indicative of final build quality.

Key Features:

  • Take your ship in to the cosmos, mine asteroids for resources, take on missions for payment, explore the fully procedural universe uncovering new mining sectors and maybe even undiscovered alien artefacts.
  • Use the stellar environment to your advantage; use asteroids as shields or even projectiles.
  • Catch asteroid orbits to mine, gain a speed boost by slingshotting out of its gravity well.
  • Customise your drones, set up structures and delivery routes to your HQ.
  • Uncover new mining sectors by careful exploration or purchase them from existing corporations. Alternatively, you can take occupied sectors by force if you have the muscle.
  • Build defences, set turrets, proximity mines, homing mines, electro barriers and others to thwart the attempts of rival companies trying to take your zones.
  • Buy new ships, drones and tech for yourself and your pilots when they come onto the market.
  • Hire pilots to pilot your ships, buy or manufacture drones and set them to work in your mines.
  • Customise and equip your ships with new gadgets, weapons and utility technologies to help you amass your fortune.
  • Manage your defences, pilots and ships or let the AI take care of it.
  • The universe is full of surprises; who knows what hidden treasures you’ll find out there?
  • Become the master of mining and perhaps the CEO of the largest mining corporation in the galaxy.

Our stretch goals include multiplayer and a mobile companion app - our custom engine is proven on mobile (Android/iOS) and desktop systems (Linux/MacOS/Windows).

Game Philosophy:

At ChaosTrend, we enjoy a game with depth but believe in making our games accessible: easy to learn, challenging to master.

With Exo Miner, we’ve tried to create an impression of the vastness of space, to create a game world where you truly feel like a pioneer at the edge of a new frontier - finding resources, exploring strange new systems and building your stellar empire. Exo Miner caters for a variety of play styles from defensive and constructive to more direct approaches. Enter undiscovered sectors, uncover hidden secrets of civilizations past and then stake your claim - whilst keeping an eye out for whatever fate befalls your predecessors.

Once you’ve started mining operations, it’s important to defend your claim. Build turrets, mines, electro barriers and other defences to protect your valuable mining operations from rival companies and other, more cryptic threats. Set up patrol routes for hired mercenaries or, if you can afford it, your own private navy.

The universe is vast and waiting for you to make your mark. Good luck pilot!

About ChaosTrend

We are a small but perfectly formed indie games company. We’ve been running for over 5 years and have successfully released many games in that time. There are five of us working out of an office in Swansea, Wales, one being a former Creative Assembly programmer who worked on the award winning Total War series. We’ve written our own game engine and tools from the ground up. At ChaosTrend, we’ve been playing games since the ZX81 but there are still games we dream of that haven’t yet been made - that’s what we’re here to do.

As mentioned before, we had to put the game on hold until we could get funding for it. We are working on a smaller game at the moment (Space Ships & Tractor Beams) to hopefully bring some capital to get Exo Miner back in development.

I wish we could finish the game, but without another £50-60k there is no way we could complete it to the level of quality we want. I hope you all understand this is not at all where we wanted this game to be, but circumstances have pretty much put us where we are now.
