Endless Days

This was made for a game jam at work. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it. Any problems running it, please let me know. Thanks!

A = move left
D = move right
SPACE = Shoot
W (near door) = move up to floor above
S (near door) = move down to floor below

Hold W = repair windows, eat food, refill ammo and refuel the generator.

---Aim of game---

Survive as long as you can! Repair windows, keep the generator running, keep your gun stocked
and remember to eat!

It's only a matter of time before the monsters get you...

Stay frosty - you can't afford to let one of those b*&%♥♥♥♥♥ in!

How did you make a gun in a platformer game, I tried to make it so the mouse controls the arms but that did not end well. So zuluhero I'm coming to you to help me make my game.

Hi! Really liked the game. I think it would be nice to have some knoback effect when touching a zombie, or a easily visible sign that I am losing life. If you add multiplayer, new weapons and stages, it would be definitely a game I would pay for it. See ya.

Thanks for the feedback. If I get the chance to ever go back to the game I will consider adding some of the things you suggest. Like i said in the description it was made for a game jam we ran at work, and only made over a week(ish), and I haven't been back since to make any improvements.

The reason for the quit is i do some screendraw stuff to make the flashlight appear when the generator runs out, and for some reason the game doesn't reset these functions when the game resets. I tried to fix it, but as I was short on time the only soulution was to quit the game at the end, forcing the engine to hard reset. I was equally frustrated by this and it is something I would look into if i were to develop it further.

I really appreciate feedback like this, I do have plans to develop the idea further, so stuff like this is always useful :)

I like the idea and the silhouette characters add to the ambience but I was terrible at the game. 4 days only!. As constructive critisism can only make it better I suggest the following.

I found it frustrating that as I came out of a door a monster could be too close to shoot at so bullets would spawn on the other side of its head and I would steadily lose health. Granted, running away to turn back would work, but it still felt annoying. Perhap a melee attack to knock back a monster(s)?

I also did not see the need for different buttons for different doors. I get it that w is up and s is down but since the player has to look for the colour coded doors to figure out where they are going I think just hitting w for all actions (eat, ammo, gas and door) would work better.

After dying and seeing your results, why does the game quit instead of restarting? Having an easy way to quit the game is always nice but you shouldnt force it on the player either!
