M3 LT Stuart

The M3 Light Tank, nicknamed Stuart by the British, was developed to replace the M2 LT, that had become outdated as WW2 was going on. The M3 had an upgraded suspension and thicker armor, but retained the previous armament of a 37mm cannon and five machineguns. They were the first tanks used in combat by the United States during WW2, when some faced japanese forces in the Phillipines. It went on to see use by the United States, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union across multiple theaters and was eventually replaced by its successor models, the M3A1, the M3A3 and the M5 series.
