Iron Mines Matter Again

For information and clarifications, in addition to this page, this discord channel is available

I often play on the official PVP servers to observe the strategies of the players.
This is because I like to understand which solutions are adopted, especially if not provided by the game.
One of these strategies is to get the steel at three points, New Asagarth, the Cimmerians to the west and the skeletons to the north.
this happens because it is easier to obtain steel in this way, and not through crafting.

In my opinion, looting steel BARS* from enemies is not immersive, because there are areas of the map completely abandoned, in practice, it seems that the game map is a quarter of what it is.

* [Steel bars are not steel weapons! I saw the movie Conan The Barbarian and I get clearly the concept of "steel research". What I'm obviously talking about is to find already ready steel bars in the enemy's pockets. My other mod "Looting and Configurable Disassembling" is the main proof of how I like the concept of "steel research".] :)

Therefore this mod introduces a possible solution, providing a metallurgical process similar to the real one, for the creation of steel, which is the result of a chemical reaction between iron and coal (carbon).

In this way, all the points where the developers have placed many iron mines would become new points of interest, much more convenient, so the players won't be forced to the northwest anymore of the map and will begin to distribute themselves on the map.

Easy Steel?
I noticed that a clan can obtain an about 250 steel ingot (every respawn) by looting it from enemies, from the three points, this means that when a player finishes to harvesting steel, he can restart immediately! How many times a player can restart looting enemies for steel in a game session?

How it works
1) Learn the relative skill from survival feats: Steel Furnace
2) craft the Steel Furnace and the Charcoal Converter

The charcoal converter, as the name suggests, it can convert wood into charcoal.
The steel furnace can convert iron and charcoal (or coal) in steel.
This process, like in the real world, produces slag, which can be used to craft hardened bricks.
Bricks are crafted in the vanilla furnace using slag.

Both the furnace and the converter work the same way, insert the materials and turn on the fire by selecting play to start the process.
In the converter it is necessary to put wood that will be converted into charcoal when the fire is lit (play)
The furnace needs coal or charcoal and iron bars to create steel bars, always when the fire is lit (play)
Steel Furnace
7 Charcoal + 1 Iron Bar = 1 Steel Bar
3 Coal + 1 Iron Bar = 1 Steel Bar
Standard Furnace
1 Slag = 1 Hardened Brick

@emiliobarber400 Hi, thanks for the suggestion. The aim of this mod is to be immersive and almost close to the real world.
So, the hardened bricks recipe of this mod it is an adaptation of a real building process, instead the vanila one is as irrealistic as immersion breaking.,oxides%20that%20solidifies%20upon%20cooling.&text=The%20open%20hearth%20furnace%20process%20is%20no%20longer%20used

I'm sure it is possible to find a more realistic usage of the resin and fiber plants, something about I'm going to consider for sure :)

Can I make a suggestion? Right now, in the vanilla, the stone consolidant is a good way to get rid of the excess of plant fibers and resin, so I have been thinking if the steel slag could be used in the furnace to obtain normal bricks instead hardened bricks.

Steam doesn't allow for good conversation, my discord server is better, please refer to the top of the description for it :)

@ian.silver67 I really thanks you, it is my aim, and knowing that I've reached the goal for some player makes me happy :)

Just a quick thanks for the mod and the SUPER quick update. Your 'out of the Funcom box thinking' and effort have made my CE experience better. Cheers.

Unrelated to the mod, I'm a bit disappointed in Steam capping comment length so severely. Makes it tricky to discuss complex topics. /rant

No problem :)
