Improved Bombers

Bombers in Vanilla are worse bombers than Frigates and Corvettes. Frigates have more capacity, and Corvettes have more launches.

This mod aims to fix that. It Allows Bombers To Use Missile Turrets And Buffs Their Missile Hold To 100, except the Minotaur Raider which isn't fully a bomber has had its possible hold only buffed to 50.

This has bombers matching Frigates capacity, and outclassing Corvettes launcher count.


Note 1: The medium turret launchers for medium ships are different blueprints than the ones for large ships. If you have already bought the launcher turrets blueprints this will ensure the ones for the medium ships are given to you. If you haven't you will get both the large and medium version when you purchase from the faction representative.

Note 2: to change missile type for the turret launchers on the top middle of your screen, where the turret behavior icons are, click the bottom icon for each turret.

**What Is Modified?**

In all the layout files for M ships the turrets are patched to ensure only bombers can use the missile turrets.
Patched the bomber ships macros to give them more missile storage.
Patched the library ware file to allow for blueprints for the turret missile launchers for m ships.
Patched the library icon file to ensure the turret missile launchers have icons in the equipment menu.
Added an MD file to ensure no issue with blueprint miss match.

The Minotaur Vanguard and Sentinel are real bombers. The pirate variant, the Minotaur Raider, is actually categorize as a scavenger. The raider version has half the missile capacity of the other ones in the base game, so kept that ratio here also.

Curious question, why claim the Minotaur isn't a real bomber? It's been a bomber since before X2, so wondering why it isn't here.

No problem! I am running a few other mods. The one of note would be VRO I suspect, perhaps there is an overlap? I'll get back to you with screen shots and a full mod list when I have the time to do it right.

Just looked at the XL xenon ships and they do not have missile turrets listed. Also read up that there are possible resrouce issues with Xenon and missiles, so yes it looks like I am going to need to modify the two Xenon M ships, and maybe the Khaak ones too.

1. What other mods are you running?

2. Can you tell what the race of the missile launcher turret the P's have installed, if not can you upload a public picture to steam and link it here? Easy way to get a picture is to pause, target the P that is shooting missiles, hit F3 twice and rotate around for the best angle.

3. Might as well ask, do you like the P's having missile launchers? The Xenon only have one M combat ship so maybe it having access to missile turrets isn't that big of a deal. Might actually spend the time and make a Xenon guided missile turret.

I didn't change any of the Xenon ships files because I assumed that if I followed the pattern of other turret types that the Xenon couldn't use the other races missile turrets. Was hoping to avoid touching the Xenon ship files because I know there are a few mods that modify the Xenon ships to buff the Xenon threat.
