Behind the scene looks at music software development
Liquid Rhythm Intro 1.2.3 Released!
Release date: September 29th, 2013
Liquid Rhythm Intro

Liquid Ryhthm Intro is a creative beat production tool for electronic musicians, DJ's and composers that want to generate, edit and remix drum loops at a fast and exciting pace. Developed by WaveDNA, the application allows you to quickly build MIDI drum loops, paint drum rolls and fills, add and edit multiple notes and generate random beat variations. The software analyzes MIDI patterns and suggests complementary beats that shorten the time you spend composing and searching for the right groove to explore new directions and complete your tracks.

Use Liquid Rhythm Intro to expand your production in a sleek, user-friendly environment and take your beat-making to the next level with a large library of percussive samples, drum kits and loops. Start your session with either a blank canvas on the arrange page or use the loop library and experiment with variations to create your own signature rhythm in a few quick steps. Once your happy with your creation, you can mix it and export it as audio or MIDI.

Compatible with VST/AU/RTAS, Liquid Rhythm Intro operates as a Plug-In or standalone application on Mac and Windows platforms. Ableton Live 9 users can use Liquid Rhythm Intro directly in Ableton Live Clips via a Max4Live patch.

Creative Tools Included in Liquid Rhythm Intro:

Built in Tutorials
Liquid Rhythm Intro has a wide variety of tutorial videos built in to the program so you can learn as your composing beats.

Music Molecule
Unlike traditional MIDI editors, Liquid Rhythm Intro doesn’t require you to have any theoretical understanding of music or the piano. The Music Molecule is our way of grouping notes together in a 4/4 bar to let you actually paint entire bars of music onto your arranger.

BarForm List
Build beats from palettes of rhythm patterns. In a single click, populate an unlimited number of bars with the beat of your choosing.

BeatForm Sequencer
Create patterns using individual notes or clusters of notes. Instantly switch to a shuffle, double-time, or half-time feel. Accent Modifiers target the velocity and groove of notes, basically the things that make music not sound robotic. You can think of them as avenues to humanize your beat.

The BeatSeeker is an intelligent algorithm that highlights the most commonly occurring patterns for specific genres.

Pencil and Paint Tools
The Pencil and Paint tools turn the Arranger into a Canvas. Rhythm is art, your screen is an easel, and these are the tools of your trade. Just press the pencil tool (or use the super-convenient key commands) to edit notes right on the Arranger, and yes: it’s entirely possible to paint groups of notes across the arranger.

Media Library
There are 10 distinct kits are in the Media Library each mapped to the General MIDI standard of percussion (which is a fancy way of saying that when you hook up your MIDI drum pad, everything will work just the way you’d expect it to).

MIDI Mapping
Most of Liquid Rhythm Intro’s interface can be MIDI Mapped: It’s also been programmed to function smoothly and automatically with a wide variety of MIDI hardware. So, whether you’re using a controller made by Akai, Novation, Alesis, M-Audio or Keith McMillian or any other piece of hardware, you’ll be able to assign the faders, knobs, and buttons in Liquid Rhythm Intro to the physical faders, knobs, and buttons on your hardware.

Import MIDI files.

Export MIDI session data or export as .wav or .aif audio files.

Liquid Rhythm is available as a VST, AU, or RTAS plugin. That means whether you’re using Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools 10, Studio One, Sonar, Cubase, or FL Studio, Liquid Rhythm Intro will seamlessly integrate into your workflow.

Ableton Live 8
Ableton Live 9
Logic Pro 9
Logic Pro X
Pro Tools 10
Studio One 2
Sonar X2
Cubase 7
FL Studio

To use Liquid Rhythm Intro as a Max4Live Patch you must have Max4Live installed in Ableton Live 9. Ableton Live 9 Studio automatically comes with a license for Max4Live, and it is an upgradable purchase for Ableton Live 9 Intro or Live 9 Standard.

Hey Lorrevandaele! Thanks for the AWESOME comment! Great you were able to give it a try. Its comments like these that push ahead, we have a lot of stuff in the drawing board, slowly creaping into code. Cheers!

I really like what you guys are making here. So far I think there hasn't been any music production program that is this simple to use and easy on the newbies. It works really nice and I was surprised by how fast I was able to create a completely original beat, without really having to know what I'm doing. I really hope this gets greenlit because this is the stuff the music production world is waiting for.
