COST-EFFECTIVE LIGHT MODULAR SHUTTLE

The Olea-class Light Modular Shuttle is an old design, dating back to early requests by the predecessors of the UCH for an inexpensive all-purpose utility shuttle. While not considered glamorous, the dependability, versatility, and low cost of the Olea contributed to it becoming a near-ubiquitous sight at spaceports and orbital terminals for many decades.

Captains across the galaxy have adapted the Olea to a wide variety of uses, including passenger transport, capital vessel tender, orbital shuttle, light cargo transport, and warp-capable courier. Owners of the craft praise the casual maintenance requirements, easily modifiable nature, and low cost of operation. Critics will be sure to point out the lackluster handling characteristics and spartan interior accommodations. The popularity of the craft among both non-military government organizations and private sector entities has ensured that most spacers have at least one fond memory aboard an Olea.

The Olea is one of the smallest vessels capable of safely mounting a warp-core, at the cost of interior space, cargo capacity, and comfort. Lack of adequate shielding results in higher-than-average radiation exposure to crews of warp-equipped Olea, but still officially below UCH defined exposure limits.
