Unlimited Money and Research Points Cheat

If you want to edit your save file to have any amount of money or research points this is the guide to help you.

first disable steam remote save, right click Game Dev Tycoon from your games list in steam and goto properties, and remove the checkmark on the steam sync saves. Also make sure the game is not running, next time you run the game it will load a local copy of your file save, then you can renable the steam save sync while the game is running so it will reflect the cheats.

navigate windows explorer to

windows 64 bit folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\******\239820\remote

windows 32 bit folder
C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\******\239820\remote

* where ****** is, this is your unqiue steam id, if you have more than one steam account or more than one person logged into steam on your computer you might have to check some folders. 239820 is the steamapp id for game dev tycoon. if by any chance your id is not the same just check all the folders and look for the following list of files

general
slot_1
slot_1|1
slot_1|2
slot_1|3
slot_auto
slot_errorlogs
slot_knowledge

these files are local save data which are actually JSON formatted, you can open these inside notepad or any JSON editor, they are simple text formatted files. our goal is to modify the following files

slot_1
slot_1|1
slot_1|2
slot_1|3
slot_auto

all these will be the extactly the same content to ensure that the cheats work. simplest way of editing these files is to edit the slot_1 file, do a find for "cash" ctrl+f inside of notepad you will find this

"cash":352742,

you can edit this value to anything you wish so for example "cash":99999999999,

now if you wish to edit the research points do a search for

"researchPoints":46,

now edit this value to anything so for example "researchPoints":99999,

now copy all to your clip board and save the file, next open all the other files slot_1|1, slot_1|2, slot_1|3 and auto_save and paste the contents from slot_1 into them and save, now you should have the following files with all the same data

slot_1
slot_1|1
slot_1|2
slot_1|3
slot_auto

next start up Game Dev Tycoon, you will notice that your research and cash values are as you described. now you can turn on steam save sync again if you wish to have the save file uploaded to steam.

Final

Next start up Game Dev Tycoon, you will notice that your research and cash values are as you described. Now you can turn on steam save sync again if you wish to have the save file uploaded to steam.

** ERRORS **
If you happen to modify the values too high and causes the game to crash you will have to delete the save files completely then load up the game again to make a new fresh file. You will lose the saved data of your game so becareful when editing the values too high.
