Naval Mortars mod

This is my mod to put mortars where they belong. ON LAND AND SHIPS!!!! ------Stats: 2/3 damage, 30% extra speed, 90,-90 pitch----------- Made for the seas, so you can craft it in your inventory now that you have learned to make one in a smithy!! Swashbuckle at seas me laddies!!!

Fair enough. Yeah Ai mortars on ships can be balanced by lowering their accuracy on the move a great deal and that alone is all that could be done to balance them. A mortar ship sitting still could mean its death. Even having many sitting still shooting at other ships, i dont think that would be op because a moving ship isnt easy to hit and again a mortar ship sitting still is a dead mortar ship if you have to stop to make a more accurate shot and add a minimal range so there is a dead zone on where the mortar ship can shoot when the enemy is too close. This can be done in the vanilla game but the devs....

I did look into adding ai to the mortars, sadly at the time it was "a little higher than my pay grade" so to speak. Essentially what prevents you from using the mortar on ships in the regular game is literally a couple settings toggled differently. So Essentially my mod was just changing a ton of values to that mortars could be placed on ships. ai is a different topic. It would be all good and done if atlas actually had mortar ai in the game, but guess what? they didn't even add ai for the mortars... So, essentially It was out of my skill level, programming new ai for the game was beyond me. So I justified it with the fact that it would make the game op. In fairness it would be because a mortar cluster to absolutely obliterate a ship. But yes I could see the use application and how it would add another element to the game, maybe if someone recreated this, nerf the npc damage a bit (Not like it would matter only works on stationary ships its like playing battle ship).

i agree this mod really needs AI that can attack bases and such like in a pvp scenario well close to a pvp scenario as one can through modding

someone needs to copy this mod and add AI... Why dont anyone do it, it would be epic and not op if done right, like decreased accuracy with AI to large spreads. We need ships to hit 300ft high pussie basses. Even if they also have ai mortars. That would look amazing and be epic fun but we got morons who makes the game and mod creators who refuse to add this in because they also like pussie bases and dont want to be attacked.

To anybody interested in this mod still, I'm sorry to say that I am ending support for the mod. It's been a long time since I touched the Atlas Dev kit, so to be honest, I forgot it all. I've since gotten more into solidworks and 3d drafting. Hope you can all understand. None of this would've been possible without WesterosRising, Who acted as my mentor, who I also haven't seen in about half a year or so. Thanks for downloading, Bob

well it can't be that hard to remember right? it's like the ARK dev kit too right? so tutorials wont be a problem either. I am planning myself to get into the dev kit in both ARK and ATLAS. the mod idea is great though!
