However it will brick the city statistics window if you change the date to 01/01/0001 and some in-game time has passed.
The solution to this it seems is to set the date to something that matches how many in game days have already passed. So if 2 months and 4 days have passed in-game that means you have to set the date to 05/03/0001 and that will unbrick the city stats window.
I haven't experienced the issues reported by candycane8852 and Eightball444.
To change the date you have to click on the city info button. From there you can set the date to 01/01/2000 for example.
