Reset GTA V without re-downloading. Fix for new launcher.

Most of the problems might be a bad configuration with the RGSC app and re-downloading 80gb is a waste of time. So here is the ultimate fix.

Reset GTA V Configuration as if it was the first time ever in your PC.

Don't worry, your GTA Online career wont be affected.

Don't go nuts after a lot of troubleshooting, the R* Support will never help you out the way you want... (seriously, their answers are written by bots.)

Steps to follow:

1) Normally uninstall Social Club App and Launcher from Control Panel/Programs

2) Manually delete the folders that are always left when RGSC is uninstalled - this is important because if you don't, later you are going to have the same older and broken configurations.

These are located here:

C:/Program Data/Rockstar Games

C:/Program Data (x86)/Rockstar Games

%appdata%/Local/Rockstar Games

C:/Documents/Rockstar Games/Launcher

C:/Documents/Rockstar Games/Social Club

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*Inside the GTA V folder in Documents/Rockstar Games, delete everything except settings.xml and videos (otherwise, your video projects will be lost and you're going to have to re-configure your graphics settings)

*Inside Profiles folder delete everything except the savegames which are "SGTA5" (in case you dont mind losing your saved games)

*The most important files to REMOVE are "cfg.dat", "cloudsavedata.dat", "pc_settings.bin" - make sure you delete those!!

3) Go to %temp% and delete everything

4) Restarting your PC is strongly recommended at this point.

5) Run a full CCleaner scan both cleaning and registry scan - when is done the reg scan delete all the entries, highly recommended.

6) Navitage to your root GTA folder in Steam/steamapps/common/Grand Theft Auto V/Installers

There you will find the RGSC installer which is needed, double click/open "Social-Club-Steup.exe" and let it install. Same thing for the Launcher, install it too.

7) Verify the game files and let Steam look for any missing or corrupt files and re-download those only...

Also..... IF YOU HAVE MODS DISABLE THEM! Let the game start "vanilla" as you can, you are looking for a default installation! (Move dinput or scripthook to somewhere else if you can't delete them so game does not read/load them)

So, if done correctly:

Next time you open GTA it should load you into storymode and ask you to accept EULA terms next time you join Online.

This means GTA has been successfully reset meaning you will have a fresh start in your PC as if it was the first time ever you boot it.

You may get an error saying game data is corrupted, ignore it, this is because it is re-generating itself, next time it will open as usually.

RECENTLY THERE IS A NEW ERROR WHICH CRASHES YOUR GAME WITHOUT REASON

One possible fix could be:

Go to c:/Windows/System32 and look for these two files: "d3d9.dll" & "dinput8.dll" COPY & PASTE them in: steamapps/common/Grand Theft Auto V

This is a "posible fix" for error 0x00005 STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Call it fresh start after a lot of trouble shooting... It may be useful, you never know, it was for me... I was tired of random crashes and my game files were fine, no mods, it was the social club app... One time I remember it was imposible to join online and the servers were fine, it was my local save data so.... Can get you rid off unknown errors... I'm sure there are worst and useless guides than this one out there.......
