Black Cat+ [Definitive Edition]

Description
About Black Cat +

Has it ever bothered you that who ever first approaches the Black Cat in Fort Joy is the one the little furry cutie follows, and there's no way to change that?

No more.

Current Features

  • Tell the cat to follow someone else
Once the cat is following you, talk to him and tell him to follow someone else. There are options for both having pet pal as a talent, or not.

  • Skill book instead of skill
If you manage to keep the cat alive, he'll now give you a skill book instead of the skill directly. This way, you can discuss among yourself and/or change your mind about who gets the skill instead.

  • A Jar of Fluff
The Godwoken obtaining the spirit of the Black Cat also receives a Jar of Fluff. They can use this in order to absorb their summon skill and give it to a friend, or sell it.

  • Make him a permanent battle pet
After obtaining the cat as a summon, you can now attempt to find a Kitten's Collar around the world. If you do, you can use it to collar the cat and he will instead become a permanent battle pet, following you around in the world. He's a capable fighter and will prove to be a good asset in the heat of battle.

  • Pet Whistle (NEW!)
After obtaining the kitty and his collar, you get a pet whistle which you can use to signal your location. If they're alive, both the Black Cat and Sir Lora will find their way back to you.

The Far Future

- More befriendable pets and adventure companions can be found in my main campaign expansion,
Chronicles of Divinity[larian.com]. Unfortunately not specifically in Act 1, but Act 2 will contain one addition :)

- Sir Lora as an Origin character. Only the Divine may stop the Coming of The Great Acorn!

A Feline Friend - Virtual Journal Log

INFO
As per 17/09/18, custom quests are currently bugged in DOS2:DE, making the journal appear empty. As a remedy to this until a patch from Larian has been pushed, I've removed the ingame quest entries (but the quest is still the same in gameplay).

Stage 1
After escaping Fort Joy with the black cat alive and well, he'll thank you as normal and give you a skill book for summoning him, and a jar to transfer the skill between players.

Stage 2
You may try to find a suitable kitten collar for him. The cat needs a collar to feel brave and encouraged enough to start following you permanently in the dangerous world.

Stage 3
Once a kitten collar is found, you can equip it on the black cat, and he will start following you permanently in world with improved combat capabilities. He is AI-controlled.

Note; This is optional. You can choose not to use the collar, and keep him as a summoning spell.

Other recommended mods that has good synergy with Black Cat+
Pet Revival - By LadyC - It currently does not heal the companion kitty. Only the vanilla Black Cat as you work your way out of Fort Joy.

Let me know of any bugs or issues you may experience either here or contact The Composer on DOS2's discord.

Posting this for anyone who had the same problems, after a few hours of troubleshooting this mod seems to be incompatiable with the "Full Loot" mod by laughingleader. When the cat dies it respawns with no armor

First, thanks for the mod.

I'm trying to use ONLY to make the cat follow Fane (I'm playing as custom and I haven't even entered Fort Joy--still on the beach on my way to recruit Fane-- can't avoid the cat before reaching the hidden alcove). I don't want any of the other stuff (don't need the cat to fight or whatever) and after the cat starts following Fane I'm going to disable the mod.

My questions:

1) As using mods disables Achievements, disabling the mod will activate Achievements again?

2) Will I still get the skill book, fluff and the other stuff even if the mod is disabled after escaping Fort Joy? I'm trying to avoid weird bugs later in the game.

I just want to play as if the cat belongs to Fane from the start.

Thanks!

uhh well i found a bug, If you get the cat outside of fort joy summon it then put on a collar you'll have 2 cats but if you then use the whistle you'll have 2 ai controlled cats one is the modded cats with armor, magic armor and skills while the other one is still just the cat but has an infinite duration. Even if one of the 2 die you can dupe them again to have 2 again i haven't tested what happens if both die at the same time.

mods ok but the "battle cat" has no armor or m.armor thus is killed mostly in 1 (aoe) hit and does 3-5dmg... the only real use is...maybe taking 1 atk to be killed off so the players wont get atked or it uses a cc skill on an enemy that was ripped off of its armor or didnt have any... not sure if it was intended that way or if the "pet revive mod" is disturbing anything. another little thing...we saved the cat without ever reviving it (carefully walked around, managed gorunds etc) still didnt get the archivement (yes got the archivement mod on and gotten other archivements with it) if renamed with the naming wizard staff mod into your real pets name is still fun and purrrfect ;)
