MVG Limited Truce

MisadventuresVG is proud to present... The Limited Truce Mod

This mod has been developed to decrease the time player empires must wait between declaring wars. Under the current system empires have to wait a period of no less than 10 in game years. In mid to late game this can feel like an eternity.

With this mod, the time limit of 10 years for a truce is reduced to only 1 year. This means all empires can declare wars at their leisure with very little time between them. The only reason the 1 year period exists is to allow empires a short cooldown period to regroup before starting the their offensives again.

This mod has been developed to be small, simple able to sit ideally along side other similar mods without interference or patches being required.

Enjoy and if you have any issue please post me a "constructive" comment and I'll look into it.

Current mod support for 2.3.*

Greetings !

I got a problem with the auto opening borders while a truce. Even with a hungry rival hive-mind the vanilla game open my borders. Ten years is ok for me but i would like to keep them from my backyard!

Helps me this mod out ?
Thx for attention :)

It still works for 2.3. Would appreciate a quick re-upload to get rid of the pesky warning every time I launch though

Opinion modifieres independent from truce length seems like a good idea. You could even have different modifieres for different governments and wargoals. Maybe it would even be possible to modify truce length based on government or ideology. Shorter truces could be a benefit of militarists.

Good point... however... who is the enforcer of the truce? Since in the Stellaris universe there is no UN type entity to act as an independent legal enforcer of any treaties, what's stopping anyone from effectively doing anything? Opinion that's what! Empires that repeatedly redeclare will be seen as being far more hostile to the rest of the galaxy and struggle diplomatically. Yes you can redeclare but that might cause your allies and friends to break treaties with you since they will view you as a threat to their own existence.

Other than that I did think about adding several variations of this mod based of length of the cooldown but I figured the opinionated blowback from other empires was enough of a counter balance.

If you would like a mod with a different length - 1, 3, 5 years etc, let me know I can post one easily enough.

Thank you for the feedback. :steamhappy:

Isnt reducing it to 1 year a bit much? It practicaly eliminates the possibility to make a comeback or even find new allies after the first defeat. Also seems a bit unrealistic to immediately redeclare against anything that isnt a hivemind, machine empire or other horror.
