About the problem
The Steam version of The Club has an issue where the patch will not install properly and without it you can only play the game with a local profile.
Solution
This guide is for Vista and Windows 7 users, although it should work for XP and Windows 8 users as well, however the locations may be slightly different. I've heard that the retail versions have the same patching issue so this should work for those as well.

Step 1: Launch the game and there you will be prompted to update from within the game.

Step 2: The game quits and asks you if you want to quit, click 'yes' and nothing should happen.

Step 3: Go to C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates (Path may differ depending on what OS you're using)

Step 4: Inside the updates folder will be other folders with random numbers and letters. One of these will contain a cabinet file named '10000082', which has already been unpacked into a folder named 'Content'. Inside 'Content' is another folder named 'Data', the files in the 'Data' folder are the ones you want.

Step 5: Copy the files and folders in the 'Data' folder to The Club's installation directory keeping the folder structures intact and overwriting the existing files.

(Steam version)
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\the club
binkw32.dll
TheClub.dll
TheClub.exe
TheClub.exe.cat
TheClub.exe.cfg
updatehelper.exe

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\the club\image
gamedata.pak

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\the club\image\ui\data\
UILua.bin

Step 6: Run The Club and it should now not prompt you to update after you login to Windows Live.

Update: You can download the update files directly from microsoft via the following link then open with WinRar or 7Zip: http://download.xbox.com/content/534507f6/tu10000082_00000000.cab

idk if the GFWL thing is messing with it but I'd just love to be able to play this and save.

I will reinstall the game sometime and check, maybe it's a windows 10 issue.

I'm at an absolute loss, I did everything to the T and the game just doesn't start when before it did.

The only other suggestions I have are verifying the game files through Steam, trying compatibility modes and right clicking the game exe and launching as administrator.

The PC Gaming Wiki page for the game may be worth checking as well, if you haven't already.

I did that and it's the same problem, for more details and if you have time to help, I have posted in "Discussions", it's the newest post right now

You could try uninstalling the games for windows live client and installing the latest version from here but doing so could affect saved data from any games for windows live games you have installed: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Games_for_Windows_-_LIVE

Inside of "AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive", I don't have the "Updates" folder, I guess it because I can't start the game and it doesn't create that folder ...
