Party Size Evolved

In 1 collection by LaughingLeader
LaughingLeader's Mods - Definitive Edition

Party Size Evolved increases the default party size limit to 6, with the option to configure it higher or lower, all the way to 10, or back down to 4.

5+ Multiplayer
While a higher party size limit is needed for 5+ multiplayer, this mod doesn't increase the player limit, as that has to be done by overriding the main campaign's meta.lsx file.

Disclaimer: I haven't tested 5+ multiplayer, nor is it my intention to do so, so please don't message me about getting it to work. Thanks!

You can download a copy of the meta.lsx file here (it has the player limit set to 10):
(Click "Raw", then "File -> Save Page As... -> meta.lsx", or "Download as Zip" and unzip it).
Place the meta.lsx file at this pathway, making the folders as needed:
Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\Data\Mods\DivinityOrigins_1301db3d-1f54-4e98-9be5-5094030916e4\meta.lsx

PSA: Controller Support
Currently, controllers don't work very well when you use more than 4 party members. You'll be unable to switch to the extra party members, and the inventory UI is broken:

Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about this, since the UI is unmoddable from a supported/traditional perspective. An official fix for controller UI is not likely to happen. Sorry!

  • The party size is set to 6 by default when the mod is activated. This can be increased to 10, or back down to 4.
  • Reflection dialog, party decision dialog, and flags/tags DOS2DE looks for in dialog have been taken into careful consideration, and made compatible. Even with 10 party members, they will all have reflection dialog.
  • No files are overwritten. PSE works by modifying databases and disabling a specific DOS2DE script to enable its own. Additionally, these changes can be reverted to return things to normal.
  • A settings dialog is available for the host to configure their max party size.
This menu can be accessed with the PSE book, or through the LeaderLib mod menu.

  • *New* A Party Management submenu is now available, allowing you to assign characters to other players.

  • *New* Character switcher skills are now available, allowing controllers a way to switch between characters.

Selecting Party Members When You Have Too Many
If you increase the max party cap high enough to have portraits go off the screen, you can select these party members with the following keybinds:

The "Cycle Characters Next / Cycle Characters Prev" keybinds available in the controls menu (The default keys are left bracket [ and right bracket ] for Keyboard + Mouse).

If you're feeling generous, an easy way to show support is by tipping me a coffee:

I love modding this game, and I love interacting with the community. Every bit helps to keep me doing what I'm doing. Thanks!

Bug Reports
If you experience any party-related bugs as a result of having more than 4 members, please notify me in the comments below, and I'll investigate it. All the bases should be covered, as I've gone through and looked to see where the party amount factors into Larian's scripts, but as this is a pretty complex thing, something may have been missed.

To help me narrow down the problem faster, use this format:

How to chain a character outside of left sidebar view?
Late Game Wonder Oct 27 @ 9:58am
The party members teleporting back to their chained party when they leave the scene is a part of the game, however what you experience is not, nor is it a part of the mod, probably a mod conflict

I'm not sure if this bug is related to this mod or not, but I am getting this issue where characters will run off into the abyss (over cliffs, out into sea, through walls or floors, etc.) and then snap back to the party like they are attached to really powerful rubber bands. It's not particularly game breaking but it is pretty disorienting and happens consistently and more often/significantly the further into the game I go. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

Yeah I never did the arena fight
Demiurge Oct 21 @ 11:27am
oh, so its something that can be avoided?
Late Game Wonder Oct 20 @ 11:33am
@Demiurge honestly I never fought in the arena so I can't say anything on that but in other fights every thing worked.

So anybody have an answer to what The Raven asked about? I'm curious as well. I will leave the quote below:

"(Warning, spoiler) - DOS II story contains a monent, in which player must fight in arena with members, which he didn't invited to the party. What will happen with this moment, if this mod is installed?
Sorry for awful spelling..."

@Hi Friend that is how modding works, mods conflict, shocker I know
Hi Friend Oct 12 @ 8:05pm
@Old Ben You dont have that much hours with the mods lol and if it works fine then why is it conflicting with my other mods? My game/mods was fine before I installed it
Old Ben Oct 12 @ 12:30pm
I have used this mod for over 500 hours and had no problems, its works as advertised. Thanks for this mod. If you have having problems, I suspect it is a conflict with another mod you are using.
