Model Railroad River

Description
This is my Model Railroad map with an added river through the center.

For this map to work you will need to disable street generation. Find the base_config.lua file here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever\res\config, open in a text editor and alter this line:

makeInitialStreets = true,

to this:

makeInitialStreets = false,

Remember back in the day, long before Transport Fever, when the only way to get our, 'train fix' was by building model railroads on old doors? I made this very simple map as a way of rekindling that nostalgic time (for some of us anyway) in the virtual world.

The proportions are as close to the average door as Transport Fever will allow (769x257), based on N-Scale. Actually, it's about 3x as big - unless we're talking Z Scale. There are 2 cities and 2 industries (per the requirements of Transport Fever) but they are placed well off the playable map area. Because of this, there is no demand for any type of goods or passengers. This map is intended as a virtual model railroad and everything is for eye candy.

Though not required for the map to run, I recommend several of the asset packs found in the Workshop as well as the, 'no costs' mod, so that you may build to your heart's content without the worry of going broke. I also recommend the, 'no end year' mod for vehicles, as the start date has been hard-coded to January 1, 2018 to ensure that all vehicles will be available to use.

Aaaaa, thanks for the heads up! I forgot to put in the description, as there are no cities on the playable map, you need to disable the initial street connections. Find the base_config.lua file here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever\res\config, open in a text editor and alter this line:

makeInitialStreets = true,

to this:

makeInitialStreets = false,

I would love to use this mode, but I get the error;
Game initialization failed - could not create street network

I have removed all other mods and I am running on build 15501 of the game.

Any advice please?

Ahh my model rail is all British. My first train was a Little "Mouse" locomotive Numbered 101.

I echo all these comments. I still remember my dad's N Scale layout, seem to recall a Penn Central boxcar, a GP9 and a couple steam locos. And TONS of track and plaster of paris! Lol I even had an O Scale train for a while .. now THAT is some serious train!

Loved model railroading so much as a kid even if it has always been a very costly hobby, especially in my country which never really had a strong currency. I tried to build a model railroad of my own on a piece of wood around 2003, but it never went too far and now it forever rests behind furniture in my bedroom. Many years later TpF has somehow managed to fullfill my need of watching trains go by often, but it will never be like having your own model trains that you can touch and feel.

the memories of the first model set... an old Santa Fe F7 with a boxcar, flatcar, a coal hopper and a caboose with a figure 8 track. Miss those days
