How to Scale Buildings as Arthur.
By Grim Anglo
We Happy Few can very often be a frustrating experience when you haven't yet realised how to climb the buildings and navigate above the Bobbies and Doctors. Here, I explain how to make YOUR day easier.

Step by Step.
  1. Firstly, this method only works for as long as you have the 'Super Meat Boy' quest unfinished, and can pick up the meat boy. However, if you've finished this achievement already, I can include a more detailed version of how to scale the buildings.

  2. Once the Super Meat Boy quest is avaliable, buy or find a boiler suit. The suit can be purchased by a secret vendor hidden in a dustbin in an alleyway.

  3. Equip the boiler suit. Due to the added mass, the physics of the character changes in a way which allows exploitation.

  4. Next, go to the corner where the boys beating up the meat boy live.

  5. Beat them up or scare them away. You'll get the option to pick up the meat boy.

  6. Once he's picked up (with a steady grip), you'll need to antagonise yourself. One or two enemies at least must be present for this hack to work. You can get people to go hostile by becoming nude and/or swinging a weapon around.

  7. Carrying the meat boy, allow yourself to be cornered by the enemies. Preferably, you want the enemy with the biggest weapon to hit you. The bigger the weapon, the bigger the force and the farther you will fly and the higher the building you'll reach.

  8. Dodge enemy attacks until one is aiming to hit you toward the building you'd like to scale. The combination of the heaviness of the boiler suit and the meat boy's weight causes a mild spasm in the game which bounces off the weapon.

  9. If this doesn't work the first time, try again. It's a skill just like any other, and the more you do it, the easier it is to scale buildings.

This is an example of me having achieved a scale during the latter half of the game. Upon returning to this part of the map, I simply picked up the meat boy, took off my clothes and strafed until an enemy hit me correctly.
Things to Be Careful For
Using this screenshot, I will now point out some errors you may face upon succesfully scaling a building, because, of course, the game doesn't want the player to do so.

The key is as follows:
Red is 'danger' areas. I have analysed the map using a machine, and the red spots are where the player cannot stand without falling through the map. Although I've yet to die or glitch out because of standing on these spots, it can mean a hefty falling fine.

Consequently, yellow and orange are also 'danger' areas, however, they are not as non-existent, and the player can survive if they manoeuvre properly.

Purple represents the gaps between each set of buildings (called a 'quary'). To jump between quaries is a matter for another guide, but it's generally not required if the player can walk over their specific quary until they reach their destination.

What We've Learnt...
Overall, parkour is a crucial skill in We Happy Few even if it was not intentinal. I highly doubt the game developers will remove it when there's already a large fanbase of players competing to find the best and most useful spots and methods.

I will create a second guide for more experienced scalers detailing quary jumping, methods not including meat boy, and how to climb the downer areas.

If you drop the meat boy while looking directly upwards it sometimes flings you into the air as well
