Description
Old World 6K is an insanely big map covering all of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, western Iran, and European Russia.

height range: 95-350.

The map size is 5889x5889. This means experimental map sizes must be turned on, or else the map won't load.

The map has 270 cities, which means, certainly together with the map size, that if your computer is a potato it will probebly lag like crazy, and if it isn't it might still do so anyway.

I tried to feature at least 1 city for every country on the map, and apart from the very small European countries (Luxemburg, Andora, Monaco, San Marino, Liechtenstein and the Vatican) and Slovenia, i succeded in that mission. The reason for not including these countries was that there simply wasn't enough space... most of Europe is very crowded.

There was a clear plan about how to scale the cities. The biggest one on the map has like ~ 15 million residents. The idea was that the smallest would have around 100k-200k residents...... that kind of fell apart. The map ended up being very crouded in the middle, and very empty in the North and South (Pole circle and Sahara/ other deserts). Due to this i ended up adding a lot of very small towns from these regions into this map, so you are't staring into the endless abiss.

I know it is't realistic that all of the Sahara and Middle east isn't 1 big desert, and that the Pole circle isn't covered in snow, but unfortunately the game doesn't allow more than 1 terrain on a map (wouldbe awesome though!).

I made sure that all seas/oceans are connected and navigatable, so there can be a lot of shipping action on this map.

Well, that's all for now. Any bugs or suggestions for new maps can be placed in the comments below!

ps: i found a source for heightmap data other than terrain.party, so i don't need to manually connect a few tiles together if i want to make a map of a large area, so the possibilities for maps have been greately increased! :)

@milan.kronja10 LOL is that even posible? I don't return to this map for this game, but i plan to remaster all my maps when TP2 gets released, so then i will see if i can improve the map with the new available tools.

I for one would appreciate a halved version. I love having a lot of cities to connect up, but this is a bit much. Looks great, though. Exactly the kind of map I'd like to play.

I like the map and im certainly going to try it! I do think it is a little cluttered though :(

@meri5001 Yeah i know. Cardiff didn't fit in the right place. if i would have put it in, it would have been in the same place as Swansea.... so I placed Swansea instead

Wales' capital is Cardiff not swansea

@Cruzmissile yeah i know, but i didn't want the map to bevome a generic "capital only" map. but if there is demand for it, i can easily make a second version of the map with like half of the amount of cities, so it might be a little bit more playable!

Awesome idea but WAY too many cities.

Juhu. Ich darf wieder testen. Das freut mich immer wieder.

Was mir richtig Leid tut ist, dass ich in die englische Übersetzung nicht schreiben kann.
