Fifty Years After is an open world shooter that takes place a half-century after a nuclear war. It’s set in the state of California, and has a wide variety of locations, from nuclear blasted cities to open deserted wastelands. Players are given the opportunity to explore the entirety of the state of California, scaled down to a reasonable size, and will encounter towns, ruins, different biomes, such as deserts, thickly forested redwood areas, and open plains, as well as post-nuclear ruins. In this world the player will face challenges in the form of first person perspective combat, missions, environment survival, and exploration.

The game will have a heavy emphasis on both player freedom and choice. Players will be able to make meaningful decisions from the get go, choosing either their own, or from a set up list of backgrounds, that will have an impact on their gameplay. Players will, for instance, be able to choose their region of origin, from which certain appropriate perks and or customizations might be enacted.
Decision making is key in this game. Players will always be rewarded when playing in a logical, survival-friendly way, and punished severely when they don’t. Depending on the limitations of development, the challenges we present could include survival mechanics such as hunger, heat meters, or several other features in line with crafting a rich, immersive world that players will enjoy discovering.
FYA is a game that focuses on telling a story through its setting. It’ll attempt to be both diverse and interesting, whilst at the same time presenting both difficult gameplay and a realistic depiction of a nuclear apocalypse. It isn’t going to have aliens or super mutants. It’ll have Sci-Fi elements, to allow us to get creative with the world and its inhabitants, but there will be nothing in the game that couldn’t exist in the real world, given the right circumstance.

So what are we looking to get out of this page? We'd like to show off some of our early assets/concept work, to see what the community thinks. Leave a comment and let us know what you do/don't like and offer and suggestions!

We also are looking for fresh faces to join the development team. If you or someone you know has talent in the fields of asset creation, especially environment assets, programming, animation, visual effects, and concept design, shoot us an e-mail at with any relevant portfolio/example work. Thanks!

Actually, I just checked out Oraculum Games' profile, and they haven't been on for 146 days. Can someone get in touch with them and ask if this is still happening?

There has been no news from this game for a long time. Is it still being worked on?

When I read the description and looked at the photos, I started thinking about two movies.
The first one is The Book Of Eli, where the main character has to travel through the wasteland... I guess you could call it...and has to make the best of every situation.
The other movie is called "The Road", where a father and his young boy travels through a somewhat dangerous post-apocalyptic world and does what they can to find shelter and food. It's not as good as the other movie, but it has it's moments.

I'm sure there are other movies that takes place in similar worlds,
but it's late over here and my brain is slowly shutting down.

Inspired by Fallout: New Vegas?

Really like the concept. Kinda reminds me of The Book Of Eli, a movie that also takes place in California.

A post-apocalyptic open world survival game? oh hell yes. And to the people saying that this is like fallout, the only similarities are the setting and the fact that guns exist. Fallout had no real survival elements, while this game seems heavily focused on survival
