Drifter is an open-world sandbox space trading game with a procedurally-generated galaxy 100,000 light years across made up of tens of thousands of star systems to explore and features an original soundtrack by composer Danny Baranowsky. Take on the role of a spaceship captain attempting to eke out a living among the stars by trading goods between star systems, hunting pirates for bounties, mining asteroids for valuable ore, or even becoming a pirate yourself. The choice is yours!

Drifter will feature:
  • 20,000 procedurally generated star systems
  • Varied ships to choose from which you can then customize to suit how you want to play
  • Many ways to play such as trading, mining, bounty hunting, piracy, and exploration
  • Dozens of procedurally generated missions
  • A crafting system which allows you to create equipment and ships not found elsewhere in the game
  • The ability to develop your character's skills and reputation to meet your goals
  • Optional story missions which further immerse you in the world of Drifter

One of the few upcoming games I'm looking forward to. EVN-style. Good luck with dev't.

Looks a lot like the modern Frontier: Elite 2. I love space exploration and combat games so I'll get on board for this.

Granted, it's been a while since I played EVE but assuming that game hasn't fundamentally changed in the last couple of years, I can confirm this is nothing like it. The only similarities are it's 3rd person and set in space. Seriously, they're completely different games.

The feel of flying is completely different, the combat is completely different, the gameplay (it being single-player in particular) is completely different.

I honestly don't get the comparison, unless you're making a snap judgement based on the video alone. If so, you're a bit of a tit.

great game has a lot of potential. Once it's on steam greenlight keep it in alpha for a while because it needs lot more done to it.

@ThatGuy I did consider trying to be more accurate with the galaxy map but ultimately decided it would have been far too time-consuming to implement, taking away from working on the core gameplay.

Procedural generation is cool, but were actual star charts ever considered for the map?

Just finished playing it a little. Reminds me of Jumpgate with the Newtonian Physics, especially when you go to 1st person view. No cockpit though
