How To Revert FTL To Old Versions
Maybe you want to use the old fonts and old UI. Maybe your favourite mods no longer work. Whatever your issue, this is the guide for you! This guide will allow you to revert FTL back to an older version of the game.

Now expanded to include 1.6.7 along with 1.5.13

If you found this useful, give a thumbs up! Thank you!

Steps to take
Basically what you want to do is open up the Steam Console: steam://nav/console

I'm having problems with Steam formatting here, when I test the link Steam claims that the link may be malicious, but it is not; so enter
into your browser and it should open this:

Click Open Link and it will open up the console in your Steam Client.

Enter into the console:

For version 1.5.13:
download_depot 212680 212681 3032798599689269105

For version 1.6.7:
download_depot 212680 212681 928569786008768839

It will download the old depo and tell you the location it is saved to once it is complete. Back that folder up into a safe location (you can rename it).

Copy the contents of that folder directly into your FTL folder, and then launch FTL the same way you always have. Enjoy the old version of FTL!

You can find FTL's folder by right clicking FTL in your games list, select "properties", go to the "Local Files" tab, and select "Browse Local Files..."

If the game ever updates, just copy the contents of the depo download back into the FTL folder again.

This is what your FTL will look like again (1.5.13):

Version 1.5.13

open: steam://nav/console
enter: download_depot 212680 212681 3032798599689269105
Copy contents into FTL folder.
Play through Steam!

Version 1.6.7

open: steam://nav/console
enter: download_depot 212680 212681 928569786008768839
Copy contents into FTL folder.
Play through Steam!
For Linux
Enter in:

Version 1.5.13
download_depot 212680 221002 1265710545481316279

Version 1.6.7
download_depot 212680 221002 6483937313543792180

Thanks to oKruszek for confirming it works.

The listing for 1.6.1 actually downloads version 1.6.7 instead.
The listing for 1.5.13 is correct though.

Thanks for this guide!
Getting the old UI back is so much nicer.

Hey can someone confirm which version the 1.6 is? I was looking at my gog version, and it alows me to pick 1.5.13, 1.5.13(A), 1.6.3, 1.6.7, 1.6.8 (the latest). So I was thinking maybe the guide is installing a version other than 1.6.1. Just want to make sure I have things right since I do not have FTL installed on Steam.

Thanks for your help.

You guys are demanding. lol

Linux: download_depot 212680 221002 6483937313543792180

Mac: download_depot 212680 212682 6845962699454970909

No mistakes this time, no gf demanding my attention (she wanted me to watch her play Killer in Dead By Daylight lol, I think she gets too stressed playing without moral support).

Good luck guys!

Can you post the linux and mac depot numbers too?

It worked perfectly, everything's working again, thanks. This is the only way to play captains edition anymore after they stopped updating it

Ah, i think steamdb limits how much back in time you can see in some cases. But maybe Steam actually removes older depots.
