Beneath the Sands

In 1 collection by LocalFire
Mortalis series
3 items
A large caravan is travelling the wilds heading to Skaro, bearing the the treasures of trade from Lys, Shadowmere and Stonemorrow. But before it can reach the safety of the Forbidding it is overun by the immortals. The wards fail and Chaos erupts, You gather together a small party and fight your way clear, heading toward the city of Feroc and the safety of the forbidding. As you near your goal the sands shift in the darkness and you fall into one of the many ruins hidden beneath the sands. Now seek your way out, what Adventures lie in wait, what treasures are to be found; Beneath the Sands?

This Dungeon is the sequel to my last dungeon, the Paths of the Earth, you don't have to play that first
but some of the lore covered there, may clear things up a bit.

A short 5 levels (6 if you include the fall from level 1) this dungeon is intended for higher level parties, (again try my first dungeon to get a party up to speed) Play it on normal or hard. REPEAT THIS IS INTENDED FOR HIGHER LEVEL PARTIES LVL 10 OR MORE (but feel free to try with weaker groups if you feel like it)

For anyone who has played my other dungeon this one follows suit, with major secrets and optional areas, the difference is that most of the major secrets are connected in this one, requiring you to complete the side quests in order. I'm more than happy to help anyone who gets stuck

Hopefully Bug free but let me know if you find anything

Custom Assets by:

Fountains, Flooded dungeon: Skuggsavein
Southern temple wallset, tapestries, custom shield pack : Merethif
Laguardian, waterbolt, crystals: Neikun
carpets: germanny
Living Armour: Hyteria
Sword skeleton, Slugomorg :Leki Skywalker
Cozy Dungeon pack: Phitt

Custom Alcoves based on those made by Neikun and Crisman

I also experimented with textures here making the Bronze golems, red dragons, skeleton soldiers and captains and a variety of items, none of which would be possible without John Wordsworths Grimrock Model toolkit

Version 1.1 update

-Ramped up the EXP on the custom monsters, (left the standard monsters alone)
-Added more food
-Added skulls for minotaur players
-Tweaked shield stats, (removed protection values since they don't work, upped evasion to compensate)
-Fixed the script in reliquary, no longer gives infinite EXP and items if gear is left on the altar
-Fixed the Secret found message from appearing on the "Twin Rose" puzzle if wrong answer is given
-Retextured the fountains so they match the rest of the wallset.

Version 1.2 Update

-Fixed the heraldry puzzle, it should work now, but I have included a reset switch, remove all the shields from the wall and hit the button to reset
-Added more food out in the open, theres more hidden in the floor gratings on certain floors

Version 1.3 Update
-Reworked the heraldry puzzle (again) after much testing I have been unable to mess it up, hopefully this will now work 100%.
-Removed the reset switch from outside the heraldry chamber.
-added a lore scroll to make the lore here consistant with the lore in Paths of the Earth.
-More monsters added to the Archive...

Version 1.4 Update
-Reworked the combat chamber on level two to force players to fight all monsters there to get the key
-Changed an item in the dragons horde for more variety

Yes the heart of the world is the fire orb in the maze, and no you don't need anything to finish the dungeon, the items all up lead to a treasury chamber is you complete a side quest type thing. But all that is optional

Found storm orb in the left teleporter maze by the altar. Can't find the Core of the World orb. Is it in one of the teleporter mazes? And do I need it to continue this mod?

You need to match the reflection room to the object room (its a mirrorred reflection) so leave the torches in the object and place the torches from the first chamber into the reflection. Also above I've got a Video guide to help out, if you need a hint and don't want to wait for me to get back to you.

Enjoy the dungeon!

Restarted playing with the later mods and they are great. I see no clues for the very beginning with the object room and reflection room. Probably has to do with the torches. Please give a hint so I can move on.

Fantastic job! I just wanted to let you know some of the secret walls that could be broken were pure white without any coloring. Otherwise it was difficult bu super fun! I'll try the first mod from your story now!

Its random as what each monster drops, but you will find that shield a little further on

The secret area with the sandstorm golems (or whatever they are) near the start, first time I defeated it, it dropped a +5 strength shield (midnight's ward) but I had 2 dead so I reloaded. After defeating it 6 more times I has not dropped the shield since. Does it have to be on a special square or something? Is it random?
