"Update" 10/18: Now supports version 1.0. Nothing has actually changed except the version number, so this update should work on both B19 and 1.0.

Adds a new designator that allows you to harmlessly shoo wild animals away from your base.

Troubled by animals wandering into your buildings as you construct them? Need a way to discourage pests from eating up your fields? The Shoo designator (found in the Orders menu or when a wild animal is selected) will order a pawn assigned to Handling to shoo animals away from them. Animals inside your base will automatically move through doors if necessary to leave. Animals outside your base will simply flee in a random direction.

Note that not all animals are equally easy to shoo; wilder and larger animals are more likely to ignore your pawns, depending on that pawn's animal taming skill. If a pawn fails to shoo an animal, they must wait a short time before trying again. Dangerous animals have a small chance to attack.

Compatibility: Shoo! should be safe to add to games currently in progress. It should be safe to remove as long as no pawns are in the process of shooing animals, no animals are marked for shooing, and no animals are currently fleeing from having been shooed.

Here are two ideas about how else this could be implemented.
1. Automatically designate for shooing animals that enter your home zone, unassign shooing on leave. Maybe put shooing work into some other work category like firefighting, but this may cause weird results.
2. Let animals do it. Make it their job to defend home area from pests by chasing them off or hunting them (depending on size difference?). This can be restricted to trained animals (release?), to predators or just to more aggressive species. This one would be flavorful, useful, and would make sense, but I've no idea how hard it would be to implement.

The idea behind this mod is good, but there are two problems in practice.

Firstly, designating an animal for shooing cancels other designations (hunt / tame). I often find myself shooing critters with farmers while they wait for the hunter/tamer to deal with them permanently, so I have to manually change designations often.
Secondly, and more importantly, this stuff is all manual. You have to manually spot animals, manually assign them for shooing, manually find closest person, manually enable handling, manually make shooing a priority, manually disable handling, then manually designate the animal for hunting / taming / later shooing.

This is exactly the kind of mod I was looking for. Before when pests were eating my crops or corpses I'm waiting to haul you had to shoot at them to scare them off, which risks retaliation.. or explosions.... now I can just shoo them! Thank you :)

At last I can scare away pesky animals without the need of killing them.

B19 version is up! The B18 version can be direct-downloaded through the link above, or if there's sufficient demand I can put it up on Workshop as well.
