Description
G.O.M. is a three-pronged mod. It's main doctrines consist of:

A. FACTION DISTINCTION
In vanilla RS2 the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army are virtually identical in tactics and weapons, when in reality they were as different as night and day, which this mod reflects.

While the Viet Cong did get AKs later on, the majority of them were armed with WW2 leftovers. They also have a plethora of booby traps, and can Spawn on Tunnels.

The North Vietnamese Army on the other hand were equipped with modern weapons by China and the USSR, however they did not use traps. Also since they were a genuine army and moved around a lot, they did not have time to dig tunnel networks, and instead Spawn on Squad Leader.

The ARVN Rangers were the special forces of South Vietnam, and have now been given their own faction with more modern equipment compared to regular ARVN.

B. CORRECT CLOTHING
Looking at the character cosmetics, it is painfully obvious there was little to no thought put into authenticity and historical accuracy, instead opting for a Hollywood style where anything goes.

This mod fixes that, replacing all the cartoonish cosmetics with items that soldiers actually wore during the time period, carefully recreated from real photographs from the war.

Oh, I just noticed that you could customize your soldier while in game. I never realized that was even possible.

Follow the install instructions carefully. They're in the description above.

So why did you remove the M16 from the Australian Scout class?

I wanted to split them up into Rangers/Airborne/Marines, but that's just way too much.

There's already an issue with too many factions and not enough maps for all of them. Certainly doesn't help that people only play Hue/CuChi 24/7 lol.

This mod is really cool.

My only complaint is the degree of character customization (camo options) and weapon selection for both the US Marines and the ARVN Rangers. They end up looking a little mishmatched when all the soldiers on those teams are sporting different camo patterns, and all their classes have several options to pick from (M1 Garand, M14, M16 for marine rifleman).

I'm of the opinion some higher amount of standardization would help these factions feel more unified. Maybe splitting them into unit subfactions such as specific units (1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Division) could help.

Part of what is pushing me away from the base game is how the standardization is starting to degrade.

Don't let my suggestions dissuade you though, what you've done looks incredible. I hope more servers start running this mod.

Oh.. Derp nevermind me.

Thanks for this glorious mod though, seriously does it right making it feel like a proper sequel to Rising Storm 1. Simple love it seeing the PAVN/NVA Commander actually look like one xD

You don't get 3 claymores, you get 2 claymores and 1 C4, it just displays 3 total.
