paying taxes at claim blocks
By a-bullet
There comes a time where everyone needs to protect their marvellous creations.
Wether you want to prevent barbarians from spawning in your backyard or other unwanted visitors from looting your storage, or you just want to let everyone on the server know where to find your awesome base: using a claim block is THE way to protect yourself (a little).

This guide may help you decide what you want to use to pay for your taxes (claiming land).

Note: not taking into account: burning cost, tool usage, rarity

short note: the recipes use the three categories vegetables (roots or cabbage), fruit (berries, cactus fruit or pumpkins) and flavouring (herbs or mushrooms). In order to get the best usable results, the cheapest ones are used (roots, berries, mushrooms)

There are a few "best options" available, depending on availability of the neccessary resources and the time you want to spend with every single claim block in your area (time per stack):

If you live in the woods / have easy access to vegetables and fruits, you might want to pay with salad and hodge podge, as these require few different and very common materials.

If you can hunt regulary you can pay with blank scrolls crafted from the pelt, deer antlers and goulash.

If you have way too much metal at your hands you could pay with that. Bronze has an incredibly high price, given how common copper and tin ore are (in certain regions).
BUT consider making metal parts out of the lesser ingots, as these pay 4 h 50 min per ingot! (only downside is time per stack)

While not as effective in total time as planks and timber (using the sawmill), i recommend charcoal over other pure wood products, as it more dense in "time per stack"

Another very good payment option is ink, if you have enough clay and wood to spare, as these are well worth their components and also have a decent time per stack.

Remember: you can only pay for one week in advance!

Did you find out something else you can use to pay or a mistake i made? Got other tipps or experiences about the tax-system?

@hardened_Mass if there is more of a game in the vanilla version i might get a few friends to play with me for a while. Otherwise this feels like a lost cause to me :/

@Zed thank you for pointing that out. it should be correct now

I think you can make 4 breads with 1 flour sack.

5 wheat straw > 1 flour sack > 4 breads
100 min > 96 min > 200 min

= + 2 h 5 min per stack bread

yeah...the wiki is getting big. I'm going to have to start creating a checklist for updates. As always, feel free to contribute and update
