How to Get Rid of Winston in The Croft Manor

Like playing in the Croft Manor but don't want to have to worry about the farting scary butler that follows you all over the place? This guide will show you how to take care him for good!

The Croft Manor... and Winston

Exploring the Croft Manor can be fun, there are a lot of secrets to find, and places to explore, but something (or really someone) that you'll notice a few minutes after you start playing is that there is a old, and farting butler named Winston that likes to follow you around all over the place. At first it can be nice, one could pretend that Lara is getting served tea and crumpets... but after he starts following you all over the mansion farting and making weird sounds the whole entire time- it can become quite annoying and pretty creepy.

The Freezer

One of the ways you can take care of Winston is by locking him in the freezer, this is fairly easy to do, but you'll have to be able to move pretty quickly.

The first thing you'll have to do is open the freezer, and wait inside until our farting "friend" follows you in.


Once he is in- quick jump over him and exit the freezer.


Once you are out, close the door and Winston will now be locked away- that is until you do the assault course. Once you get to the target range on the assault course, Winston magically teleports to the assault course garbed in army gear, ready to start stalking you again. The next section covers a way to take care of him permanently.

Trapped in The Crawl Space

Using the following method will trap Winston for all eternity! (well... until you die or start the level over) This anti-Winston tactic is really easy, just follow the steps below:


1. Complete the assault course outside as you normal would, and stop once you come out of the crawl space with the pistols.


2. Wait for Winston to get near you...


3. Move Lara so that Winston is in between her and the crawlspace... and fire away! Keep shooting until you knock him back, eventually he will slide into the crawlspace...


4. When he slides under... he will get up and his head will get stuck in the ceiling- allowing you to explore the mansion with out having to worry about that old guy following you again!

winston is the shit, I actually remember doing this when this was out originally. Sucked so hard at beating levels I had to waste all my time in the manor.

Nice to see someone else used the crawl space trick. Everyone always mentions the freezer but I would always stick him in the crawl space, it got rid of him so much quicker.

Cute !.... and a neat trick to boot. Trapping Winston inside the bridge. I've used this strategy before to eliminate enemies, never thought to try it here !
