Transparent items in SFM.
By Patrick Jr.
Fixing Transparent items due to AO on some models.
A Quick Guide
Open up the VMT file related to the item that's transparent and add "$AmbientOcclusion" "0"
It must be actually like it is in the image I edited the VMT files related to the solider Zombie and added "$AmbientOcclusion" "0" to each file and saved

It's as simple as that.
The result
If done correctly the model should not look transparent anymore

I've wrote about this some time ago on my DeviantART Journal, it can be seen here

"Add Override Materials" function? It allows you to add .vmt parameters without changing the .vmt file itself. I dunno if it will work with $ambientocclusion though.

If you are looking for the .vmt for a transparent weapon but you can´t find it use this page to help you :

I had zthe issue with the Bazaar Sniper and i found it under the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\tf\materials\models\weapons\c_items

this is where the most weapons.vmt are listed

I used crowbar to shove $mostlyopaque and $ambientboost into a model qc, but now they have way too much Ambient occlusion now...

@YoshiBobby do you mind telling me where it is because I had no luck finding it with the other xms_items. Thanks!

I can confirm adding $ambientocclusion 0 (or 1 or 0.5 or anything in-between) using override materials allows setting the ambient occlusion blending factor.

Took me a while to find the vmt for the transparent xms_sniper_commandobackpack. Thank you so much, this really helped.

I know. I'm just noting you may want to include that. It's a more complicated method, but quicker.
