Finally, Fragment 1.5.0 is out!
1.4.4 - Animated GIFs - DONE!
A cool new image viewer

Intended as a "next-gen" image viewer, Fragment brings coolness back to the Desktop.

  • HUD User Interface
  • Fast startup, loading and navigation
  • Thumbnails for the current directory
  • Unique Peek and Skim browsing (see vid)
  • Crop and Rotate (see vid)
  • Seamless itegration of Lossless Jpeg Operations
  • 'Back' button functionality
  • Animated GIFs with Playback Controls and Frame Extraction (see vid)
  • Unconstrained Pan
  • Fill view mode
  • Facebook upload
  • Many filetype formats, including HDR
  • Build on open technologies
  • Cross platform - Linux, OSX, Win

It is a work in progress
Many improvements are coming:
  • Animated Gifs (DONE)
  • Crop and Rotate (DONE)
  • Sorting of images in folder
  • RAW file format
  • Metadata support
  • HDRI exposure control
  • etc.

General design goals
  • Be cool (in good way)
  • Be lightweight, newer versions should not startup slower
  • Be a viewer, not a photo managing application
  • Be a viewer, not a photo editing application
  • Still provide great functionality where appropriate

Price goal

Hopefully Freemium or below $2, depending on the options available.

This is my favorite aspect of this viewer
- Be lightweight, newer versions should not startup slower

Rendering speed is what is the most important to me when I'm looking at photos on my pc, so I'm glad to support the dev when it releases. I'm using windows 10 and it works really well.

Yes, next release is (99%) ready. It will feature Slideshow and Transitions. Sorry, it took ages :(

@Ratser I am hoping to get an update checker from the Steam integration. Until then, just check the website every few months :)

@rared2w64 I haven't decided, probably end of the year-beginning of the next, I whant to add (the much requested) Slideshow feature first.

When will it be released on steam?

This is the best lightweight image viewer I've ever tried. It works perfectly on Windows 8.1, there are no problems with the file association unlike other viewers I've tested. Just one thing, if you could add an update checker in the standalone version, that would be great.
