JR's Old World Skill Overhaul

Description
This mod is aimed at updating all Old World skill trees for Total War: Warhammer 2, bringing them in-line with the new race's skill trees.

Creator's Note: Despite CA bringing Old World lords closer to their New World counterparts with various updates, they're still behind. This mod will continue to add small things to Old World lords to make them more interesting and "competitive" with their newer counterparts.

Feature Overview
  • Updated Campaign Effects Tree: All Old World Lord blue skill trees have had some adjustments to be brought in line with TW:WH2's standard. Some racial campaign skills moved to Unique Skills section.
  • Reorganized Unique Skills: Updated the organization of Unique Skills so they're on the second line rather than first line. Warhammer 2 lords are like this and it reduces clutter/increases clarity of what's special to a lord.
  • Venerate the Anscestors: Dwarf Lords may now choose to venerate a single ancestor, providing unique bonuses.
  • Mixu's Gods of the Empire: Mixu's God's of the Empire mod has been integrated into my mod. Thanks Mixu!
  • Orc Tribes: Orc Warbosses and Goblin Great Shamans can choose a tribal region they originally hailed from, providing a unique bonus.
  • Skill Adjustments: Some adjustments to some skills. Example:: Ancesteral Grudges now provides damage bonuses against different races.

I'm working on a proper, complete list.

Steel Faith Overhaul Patch
This mod is currently not compatible with Steel Faith Overhaul. When it is I will put a link here. Here's the old one: Steel Faith Overhaul Patch

Compatability
  • (Notice: Compatibility needs to be tested) Was compatible with these mods, unknown currently. Cataph's Southern Realms,
Cataph's Kraka Drak and Mixu's Legendary Lords.
  • Even if you don't own Game 1, these skill changes will apply to Game 1 races in the Vortex Campaign.
  • I highly recommend starting a new game. Any skills that have been replaced (such as the entire Red Line/Battle Effects tree) won't be skilled anymore, so it isn't really save game compatible. It'll still work mind you.
  • Any mods that alter the layout of the skill tree won't be compatible. Any mods that only affect the stats of skills should still work.
  • Units added by other mods will not get the Rank 7 skill bonuses. However, it is very easy for them to add compatibility to my mod. Add my unit_sets_tables table into your mod, rename it, then add an entry into your mod's unit_set_to_unit_junctions_tables for the set that your unit should appear in.

Future Plans
- Add additional "god choices" skills to other races, like what I did for the Dwarfs. Might not be god related, it will depend on each faction's lore.

Balancing
I'd love to hear feedback on the balancing of my custom skills! Please use the discussion forum for that however, so the comment section won't be a mess.

Manual Install
If the mod doesn't work (because the launcher is buggy with downloading sometimes), I'll try and manually keep a version of the mod at this link[www.dropbox.com]. Simply drop the files into your "\Total War WARHAMMER II\data" folder and you're good to go! Make sure you click the "enable outdated mods" checkbox to enable this mod when installing manually/without steam.

If you enjoy this mod, then please consider supporting me on Patreon[www.patreon.com] or buying me a coffee[ko-fi.com]. I don't expect anything for my mods, but anything I get will go towards bigger and better mods!

does anyone know if this is compatible with Lord Specializations? the game starts fine but i'm not sure if this one is working or not. don't see any gods playing as the Empire.

@JerreyRough; Would a mod that gave.. say 80 skill points per level, but the level cap was '2' (eg; 1 level up), be something simpler to make (or find/request of others to make?)

Note; I'm just asking your opinion as to the ease or difficulty of making a mod like this. I FULLY respect your time and limited availability and know full well that I will have to find someone else to make this.

That would take a lot of time. It wouldn't be hard, but it'd be time consuming to make for all factions. I don't even have enough time for my own modding, nevermind what someone else would want, so sorry butt I can't make that for you.

If you wanna do it yourself, I'd look around at current modding tutorials on the guides page. Or join the modding discord and look there.

Unfortunately you have to setup the entire hero (each hero, each lord, EVEN if they are identical).. so yes it does save some time, but it also doesn't work with co-op which is my end-goal.

Hi JR; This is slightly off topic but; I was wondering if there was a way (for you, because I am bad) to make a mod that effectively condensed ALL the 'skills/buffs/passives' that exist in any given lords/heroes talent tree... to ONE skill point.

Basically I'm trying to figure out or find a mod that lets me drastically reduce the time it takes in co-op for talent point distribution... Every battle with a lord, that has 2-3 embeded heroes.. is 3-4 talent points (or 6-8 if using a 2x mod) to distribute...

So if I can reduce that in any way via talent point 'squishing' or anything else you can think of...

If this isn't something you can make, any direction you can point me in would be appreciated.

Would you consider buffing Empire God skills slightly? In particular, Sigmar's skill seem a bit too niche and thus ineffective, given that ideally you wouldn't be caught in defense.
