Valcarta: Rise of the Demon - Combat Teaser!
Release date: Early 2013
Rise of the Demon is the first chapter of a 'storyline' game series that spans 3 chapters titled: Valcarta. The Valcarta series will be built on a premise of heavy storytelling in a mulit-path fashion. There will be 2 paths in every game in which the player can play and experience the events that will unfold. Each path will provide the character with different pieces of the puzzle to put together to allow the user to experience a full view of the events unraveling within the world and ultimately decide which they believe to be right and wrong for themselves.

Rise of the Demon, the first Valcarta title series, which follows Valak, a young man that has no family to speak of and a blurry past. He has spent most of his 'youth' in the central province known as Drachell working as the 'protector' of a small town. At the beginning of the game, Valak must make a choice that will change not just his fate but also the fate of Drachell and Valcarta.

Key Features
  • Split Path Storytelling:  Experience the story and events of Rise of the Demon as they unfold from two different perspectives.
  • Old School RPG Action:   Front-view ATB battle system with a touch of Action for a unique twist, an immersive world and story, unique characters with their own personal history, quests and more.
  • Unique Game Play: Both paths of the game play differently, with different characters, different skills and a different point of view on the game world.
  • ATB with an Action twist: The new version of the game implores a brand new battle system. Traditional Action Time Battle with a twist of additional action, keeping players on their toes as they will want to ensure that enemies are unable to land a successful blows against them.
  • Life Filled World:  Experience and explore Drachell, a small isolated province on Valcarta. Talk with NPCs, learn about your fellow companions, the races within Drachell and more.
  • Hours of Fun!: Based on feedback on the original release version of Valcarta: Rise of the Demon, a lot of the original story has been fleshed out, made more clear and overall just improved. With that said, combat plays much less a role than in the original version, as most of the random encounters (most, not all) have been carved out to allow for a more entertaining and less 'grindy' feel to the game. With the story re-writes and additions, the game is now likely to clock in, for an average user, around 20hours each path, for a total of approx. 40 hours.
  • Finely Crafted Time Line: Experience a true split path adventure. The choice you make alters the entire world around you. The events of Drachell will unfold, regardless of which path is being played however, but the end result moving forward will be greatly altered. Join up with either the Sleemon Empire or the Brotherhood of Twilight to get the full story!
  • Lorebook: [Old Version]The Valcarta series is based on the telling of lore between a Loresmen and his daughter, the apprentice. In doing so, each game will yield a new chapter of the Lorebook, for fans! The Lorebook is both written and done over with audio for your listening and reading pleasure. It's chalk full of details that perhaps you missed in your play through or points that further expand information gathered in the game.
Note: The Lorebook, which will still be available, was based moreso on the older version of Valcarta: Rise of the Demon and will not be updated (due to the person whom was maintaining it being overly busy with her real job).
  • Stategy Guide: There will be, perhaps several weeks after release, an Official Strategy Guide, written by yours truly, released to help those of you who may get stuck. I don't want to release it right a way, because I am a firm believer of giving the puzzles and the challenge a go first before seeking assistance. The Strategy Guide will have all the solutions to the puzzles and boss mechanics, treasure lists, enemy and boss details and a little be of Lore and character backstory within it.

The description as well as the Screenshots have been updated!
Sorry this has taken so long (probably over a year since being Greenlit), but I wanted to make sure I took in all the feedback and applied it positively to the game so that I can provided a good experience.
The graphics itself... sadly, my artist who was working on the custom art for everything got too busy to be able to complete the project, but I have decided to move forward with the release of the game anyway. I hope that the stock graphics aren't a deteran and that people seek this game for a bit of a challenge and a new story to dive into.

The release date isn't set, but it should becoming before the end of next month, if everything stays on track.
Thanks for the continued support everyone. I hope interest remains/can be renewed.

I'd be happy to answer any new questions that may come up as a result of this annoucement!
