Post Mortem 02 - Prelude

Description

NEWS
Version 3 was released. I fixed the Portal switching bug and a few others. You can read the full changelog here.

The series
Post Mortem is a series of maps in which I explore some of my favorite test elements, gameplay mechanics and visuals from the Portal series mixed with whatever is going on in my head. I have no exact release date for episode three. It's been seven months since I released episode one, so don't expect anything soon (sorry!). I let new ideas come to me instead of commiting to a linear and predictable timeline.

The map
Inspired by epistolary events, this map will expand the character’s backstory as requested from episode one. I tried to go for puzzles with less elements, as inspired by the first Portal game. You'll see nothing but the 1500 Megawatt Aperture Science Heavy Duty Super Colliding Super Button, Weighted Storage Cubes and Emancipation Grills. I also wanted to work using a Single Portal Device. I hope you enjoy, I had a lot of fun creating this one. It's the biggest map I have ever made, quite a challenge!

Special Thanks
Demolisher for feedback, texturing and some cool ideas;
reepblue for the beta textures;
and everyone who playtested.

Thanks for playing!

Hi, you broke the logic of the game with this card. A simple Aperture Science employee cannot have a jumper's shoes. And it is not possible to survive from a height from the surface of the earth to the salt mines without shoes.
I ask you to add a third part that can somehow explain such a long fall.

Very nice map. The puzzles were neat, and like others I liked the twist in the last one (thought the autoportal's floor button was a little buggy for me.)
I quite enjoyed the design and the use of strong orange lighting with the destroyed look. I also liked the triple-layered doors seen when the player enters the facility, which felt like a classic example of Aperture-brand inefficiency.

This is just the prelude? I don't know if I can handle this. The difficulty is right on the edge of what I can handle, which I like to call medium hard because I know there are much better players than me but I do like a challenge. I really like the simplicity of the equipment combined with the subtlety of the puzzles. I have to work to avoid preconceived ideas of what is and isn't reasonable or I get completely stuck. Thumbs up! I'm off to sign up for the rest of the series. I'm pretty sure I've played all your other maps.
