Tales from the MMA jobber file, #22: The most frustrating part of this whole project is making dudes with no living fighting record. Hidehisa Matsuda was a short-lived shoot-style wrestler and fighter who wrestled for four years and fought five times, and there is next to nothing out there for visual record on him--to the point that multiple fight/wrestling-record databases have the headshot of one of his opponents, Ryu Echigo, as his profile.

It's kind of a black hole. He fought once as an amateur at Pride: The Best Vol. 2, but Pride never released (and may not have even recorded) video of the fight--probably better for him, as Yushin Okami knocked him out in four minutes, one of just two KOs in Okami's 49-fight career--and he'd have four professional fights across GCM, Deep and Zst, with only one victory in the form of a choke victory against the 0-2 Shoichi Ichimiya.

He was a registered part of Kiyoshi Tamura's U-FILE camp of shoot-style professional wrestlers, and competed regularly across both of its organizational incarnations, U-STYLE and STYLE-E (as well as one bout with the Inoki Genome Federation), and most interestingly, he did a small part of it under a hood as the masked shooter Crafter M.

Which is where most of the fun of making this came from, for me. I mean, the MMA jobber file is often kind of boring, let's be real--90% of it is 'here's a pro wrestler who wasn't good at fighting"--but lucha masks are one of the best things humankind ever created, and any excuse I ever get to make an MMA character in a lucha mask is a good time. I'M COMING FOR YOU, DOS CARAS.

Moveset, stats, logic and four attires (Pride: The Best Vol. 2 vs Okami / U-Style outfit / Crafter M / Deep 10th Impact vs Ichimaya). I can't claim accuracy on these outfits the way I always do otherwise; I'm extrapolating from what little ov a visual record I could find. If anyone out there is a Crafter M scholar, please, by all means, let me know what the real deal is and I will gladly defer to you.

His " work" as Crafter M was tremenous. Floating like water through transitions was impressive to watch during the U-File days. Your attention to detail has always impressed me.
