Early Skillbooks Unlock

This mod makes all skillbooks available at merchants from the start of the game, instead of gating these behind player levels. So with this mod, you'll see every skillbook/scroll merchant have an assortment of skillbooks and scrolls that spans all skillbooks and scrolls in the game.

Vendors that sell skillbooks from a single skill will still sell just for that skill, but picked from all levels, from the start. The same is true for general skillbook vendors, they'll still sell all skillbooks for all skills but picked from all the levels.

Note that this also makes it harder to get your hand on specific books, as there's a larger assortment of books that the merchant now gets its inventory from. I did not increase the amount of books for this, as a way of keeping things interesting.

This mod does do things Larian probably didn't intend, as you can specialize and get skills like Spread Wings relatively early on. However, for me this makes the game more interesting, seeing what you can do with these utility skills in the early story lines. I haven't played the game enough to say this with certainty, but it was the same for DOS1.

If you have any remarks/suggestions, please do post them!

I'm also on Nexus[www.nexusmods.com] for not-Steam players!

Do I need a new save for this?
You can use this on a preexisting save or new game. Make sure it's enabled in the mod add-on section of the main menu.

My vendor isn't showing the skillbooks after I activated the mod!
If you've already talked to a vendor before enabling this, you'll have to wait for that vendor's inventory to refresh or you can level up to force a refresh.

Where can I buy the skillbooks?
The vendors are certain ones that sell skillbook, like Butter by the kitchen/arena area, Kalias in the caverns, etc. you can look them up.

The vendor doesn't show all the skillbooks in the game!
Indeed, he picks his number from all the books available. This keeps it kinda balanced and fun, from my perspective. I'll publish a mod that does this later.

I seem to have found a buig in this mod. When enabled new items like scrolls, runes, and other items that you pick up are put on your hotbar even if you have that disabled in the game options. I have been trying to figure out why this was happening for the longest time and did not really want to go though each of my many mods individually to do so until today when I just got fed up with it. Now, to see it happen you have to disable all of your mods and just turn this one on and off because for some reason other mods can make this bug keep bugging your hotbar. Could the author please look into this? Thanks.

Just a minor issue, with the mod enabled, Chamleon Skin isn't avaliable during char gen.

This mod seems to break mods like Fast Casting and Source mods like SourceSkillsFree.
I think as u said it might be the "All Items Stats issue" u mentioned.
So Im currently using SkilledUp mod to cheat my way to the spellbooks - but it is a much bigger cheat than ur mod.

hi can you help me with something to make my own mod?
I am trying to edit the arena master's gear
I understood that I go to treasure tables, but it just says that the object category he uses is "T_TraderEquipment" I have no idea how to edit its content though

Larian is issuing a hotfix this weekend and a big patch later down the road. I'll look into what might be causing you guy's issues later, and make my mod affect skillbooks only instead of being the stats for all items. Thanks all for your comments!

@Nito I gave it 10 minutes to load and it doesn't even take half a minute to load a save normally. I have the game on SSD also.

@22nd_Grey just give it sometime, some mods take a while the first time you load them into an existing save

Can't load save game with this mod toggled on. Loading the save works fine with this mod toggled off.
