We're getting close to a beta version of Zoom Player Steam Edition, hopefully this week.

The purpose of the beta is to test the Steam installation process which works very differently than a standard installer.

Beyond testing the installation procedure, the beta version will include initial and exclusive support for XInput devices such as the XBOX360 controller.

That is the plan more or less.

Forget VLC, MPC, WMP and the rest, Zoom is the best media player, hands down. The UI is very smooth and nice-looking compared to the rest of them that are to put it nicely, "UI disasters"...

Lots of features to tweak, and at the same time easy to use for newbs. No need to install codec packs, it automatically installs all codecs you need. Been using ZP for years, and use it for all video playback.

Maybe you can think of all kind of cool things like zoom in etc and let the users set the keys in the settings. like if you want to bind a key you can select from a list of actions. so can you bind the keys you want. maybe some want the play on the A button but some maybe on when you click on the stick. etc.

same for like maybe next file or previous file some want it on the buttons other on the RB/RT or LB/LT

I need some input on how to best integrate the XInput controllers.
From what I can see, there are a fixed number of digital buttons, two analog buttons with which react to pressure and 2 sticks:

Assigning functions to the digital buttons would be easy, but what about the two analog buttons and the sticks, what should they do? I can think of a few cool things like zoom in on one button, zoom out on the other buttons and one of the sticks to pan.

I welcome other ideas and ideas for default function mapping for the digital keys.

Does anyone know if the official Steam Controller is XInput compatible?

I received the XBOX360 controller, we'll begin adding native support for it soon.
